Everything is predetermined
    #1498352 - 04/27/03 04:44 PM (20 years, 11 months ago)

Everything we do in life is predetermined. If it wasn't it wouldn't happen. If i type and h instead of a j or turn right instead of left that action is predetermined.
I am destined to do everything that i do at ever moment of my life. Its indisputable, since obviously it is happening, even now as i type this. Nature had ordained for me to make this thread millions of years ago. Billions upon billions of events has passed before me and now I'm sitting here writing this. It was inevitable.

You sitting at your computer halfway around the globe reading this is also inevitable. Our fates has been crossed just as they where meant to from the very beginning of time.

It's not indisputable. I'm disputing it right now. DISPUTE!

You're dumping the concept of free will down the sewers.

Sure, when something happens, many factors are involved, but I like thinking that I can take decisions by myself.

As long as you're not using fatalism to justify negative actions ("Oh, I was supposed to kill that guy, it's not my fault, nature decided"), I won't oppose myself to your beleifs.

I can't prove that I have free will, and you can't prove that I don't. However, I would find it extremly depressing to strongly beleive that there is no such thing as "choices".

Fatalists think they can't be blamed for their actions. But don't take pride for them either.

true, it was inevitible because you CHOSE to do it. if you would have made a different choice, that choice would also have been inevitble.

bert, our fates are now interwoven. There are no changing this. Whatever happens from now on, know that i will always be a part of your past and your future. You where meant to sit in-front of your computer and type that reply. Never forget this as it will have a profound impact on your existence. A new chain of event has been set in motion.

The fact that i could have made a diffrent choice is not a factor. I made this thread and that was inevitable.

Your view is similar to that of religious extremists who believe there is a God completely and fully with no proof. Then when people try to argue against it, you have a full proof case with no evidence behind it.

You raise some interesting points. I do believe that we have free will to a certain extent as i am exercising that will at this very moment. Say for arguments sake that you and i would sit in-front of each other with a gun at the center of the table.
I would pick that gun up and point it at you. I hold that gun knowing that i would never ever pull the trigger. The last thing i would wanna do is destroy your life and mine at the same time. But what if i where to pull the trigger? Fully aware of the consequences of that action and in total conflict with everything that i believe.

What then? I killed you. It happened.

Predetermined.... hhmmmmm....

Everyone here would be affected then... If predetermined, it would mean that it was like that for everyone... Wow.... that was almost like a Deja-Vu...
Deja-Vu s happen to many... if not everyone...

But it's never the same the second time r'ound... Seeing the movie for the first time is the most exciting... although, a second or third viewing yields in more appreciation of details...

Seems alot of people are hopefull that there is much more out there than being "simply human". Even the notion of being telepathic and stuff... I've heard it too.

Ok...

Deja-Vu s happen to many... if not everyone...

But it's never the same the second time r'ound... Seeing the movie for the first time is the most exciting... although, a second or third viewing yields in more appreciation of details... But if you pay close attention .... hmmmm...

Seems alot of people are hopefull that there is much more out there than being "simply human". Even the notion of being telepathic and stuff... I've heard it too.

Ever have something happen to you before.... something that made you go.... WOW !!!! What a coincidence !!!!! That happens as well !!!

But a coincidence seems random... Especially when you can't establish a connection...

Ever have a "coincidence" happen.... and it involved an event in your favour!
It has happened to me... as I suppose it has happened to many out there too.

If you were to believe that there is a place for you when you die; then there must have been a place for you before you came here.

Although hard to guesstimate, there may be more to life than there is to see.

One thing is for sure, that we go in one direction.... forward... Like going down a slide...

What if though, we could choose which slide to go down... What if we could choose who to slide down with...

If everyone's doing it... then we'd all be going down the same slide together... cause the rules established, so far, that apply to me... they seem to apply to you too... ( Rules of the Same Slide... LOL )...

Maybe... predeterminded dosen't have to be so bad after all... Suppose, before the slide... you could look down and see what there was... Suppose, you could even affect your trajectory down the slide...

Maybe then you could even co-ordinate stuff... or synchronize.... you know... time things.... cause you gotta admit that some things are just perfectly timed !!!!

Here's the deal... I can accept the fact that things are predetermined (... maybe there's some fineprint there... who knows.... there's always fineprint these days...) ... as long as you can accept that we are more than what we have been lead to believe... The "Big Guys" want us all to be sheep.... When in fact we may all be more like shepherds...

Maybe it's the ones who do the deepest searches into their souls that come to see themselves as they really are... ( Just don't forget your life-lines...lol )...

Wouldn't it be great to know that you could do more than you have been lead to believe? That would explain a large quantity of things...

So... maybe the real question we all need to ask ourselves is this:

" What would I really do for myself? "

You can't really lie to yourself... cause you'd know soon enough that you were lying...

...Maybe there is some merit in soul-searching...

"All your base are belong to us."

Originally from a very poorly translated japanese-American video game, the name of which I cant remember...

It all depends if time travel is possable. Well, maybe not......everything we do happens and becomes the past. Having a past makes you think it is pre-determined just cuz it had happened. You can't prove either side of this arguement.

I believe that eternity allows for everything to happen, so then there would be either 'free will' or just an infinate amount of pre-determined senarios.
