the crumbling infrastructure----paradigm shift
    #1498131 -

I dont know whats going on where ever you are from, but here in BC, things are beginning to change.

-the baby boomers are retiring in hoardes, which is freeing up thousands of jobs related to societies infrastructure (civil service, middle management etc)
-but the problem is, the new generation of university grads isnt interested in those kinds of jobs, people dont want to work 9-5's anymore, or be tied down by long-term "careers"
-instead, lots of people are opting for seasonal employment, which allows for more freedom and mobility.
-but the problem is....there is a drastic need for people to fill these infrastructure positions, and there will be major problems if they dont get filled.
-so the government is trying to encourage immagrants to fill these positions, but they arent able to meet various requirements (language, social knowledge etc)
-all of this is further stimulated by the fact that people who are interested in these types of jobs, with related degrees are moving out of BC, to ontario and alberta.

so there are too many hipsters in this province and not enough squares....whats going to happen? and how will this effect the evolution of british columbian culture?

When their system becomes too stupid to sustain itself, it will crumble.

People who think for themselves aren't going to make a living doing something they don't want to do. So when we have too many people thinking this way, it creates a problem. All of these jobs that no one *wants* to do are going to be pushed onto the ignorant. As far as I can tell, the system is already operating in this fashion. It's only a matter of time before everything collapses, because we have a huge, mindless machines consuming everything in it's path and war-mongering psychopaths at the wheel. These machines are going to do battle and will most likely destroy themselves. The sooner the better...

I live in hope for the day in which the men with the pockets full of money die because they find out that they can't eat paper.

yea but they can just buy some smart fuckers to help them out when things start to get stickier than usuall.

of course those guys will eventually turn to greed and therefore not give a shit about the functionality of a populous in the long run.. then they'll be just like the rest... So maybe there will be a turning point when people will be aware and decided enough to say "no, i dont feel like throwing my soul away..." but now im rambling.

It won't crumble in one instant. It would be gradual, and we will find ways to solve theze kindz of problemz in the future, before it's too late.

adamist:

i disagree with this statement......just because you have a shitty job doesnt mean you are ignorant. there are lots of reasons for people to work shitty jobs...many people are victims of circumstances they cannot escape.

Tell me about it.

I think you mis-interpreted me slightly, however. Circumstances or not, you ALWAYS have a choice. You don't have to sell your labor to someone else's machine. If large amounts of people realized that at once, and said 'fuck it', well, the only ones who would be left would be the fearful and ignorant. This is happening right now.

The only reason I keep my job is because I'm afraid of where I'll be if I just said 'fuck this system, it doesn't work, so I'm going to find one that does'. I really wish I had the balls to do that, and I hope that someday I will.

Well, if I was somewhat attractive I would become some kind of adult entertainer or get hooked up with a guy with alot of resources who would take care of me. If that didn't work I'd probably be a small-time criminal and wander around the world aimlessly, taking life as it came.

you kind of proved how those jobs will be filled... people who for some reason or another have to take shitty jobs. and so they fill the positions till they either leave or stay or weeded out by people who want to be there.

but for about anything else see ^^^

if you live in texas there are plenty of Mexicans that like to fill the lower "shittier" jobs. its better pay for them. and those who get bumbped up from there move up as well. doesnt BC have a nice influx of an asian population? its most likely that they will start lifting residency requirments or what not and allow more people from different countries to come in.

and it could still fall. but so what? its bound to happen to us all sometime. besides i dont think you have too much to worry about. unless some outside force comes to devistate the global economy.
