I feel the complete opposite. Not a fan in the least of their albums, save for a few songs (mostly from BSSM), until Californication.

From there till now, they're absolutely perfect.

I didn't like the single that I heard a few weeks ago. If that is one of the better songs on the album it's going to suck.

There ARE some good songs on the new album, but raindance maggie is NOT one of them...

Look Around, Police Station, and Goodbye Hooray were really good I thought.  Meet Me At The Corner was pretty good I thought too...

But yeah, raindance maggie (the single) was one of the WORST songs on there imho...

But I'm with those of you that thought the Frusciante albums were the best, By The Way being my all-time favorite...

uhhhh

Yeah, well

I think Stadium Arcadium is indisputably their best album.

Also many songs seemed to be bass heavy, which is nice but there wasn't much in the way of guitar riffs Klinghoffer relegated himself to chords and short solos. There just weren't as  many memorable songs as previous albums.

I feel like One Hot Minute had the exact same problem. I think Flea and Frusciante have such an irreplaceable chemistry when they write together. It's really hard for another guitarist come in and have flea play like flea without writing a lackluster guitar part.

Whaaaat? indisputably their best? :awewtf:  That's the first time I've heard THAT statement...

Don't get me wrong, it's a great album, but the best?

Stadium Arcadium is pretty good but it's too long and a little rough around the edges. By The Way was "meh" and super mainstream. Californication was less mainstream but it still isn't my thing. One Hot Minute was very psychedelic/funky and they went all-out... my fav album of theirs (as I already mentioned). Blood Sex Sugar Magic is my second fav... and I'm not gonna comment on the albums before it because I don't want to take that much time.

And yes, I just went through their albums BACKWARDS. :lolsy:

Your ears must be broken. That just doesn't make sense

One Hot Minute was the best because not only was it funky, it was way psychedelic. It has a completely different side to it than any other rhcp album.

Blood sugar was the funkiest though.

Saying either one of those pieces of artwork is their best album is fine, it's your opinion. but putting words like 'indisputably' followed by your opinion is silly. Plenty of people will dispute either one of those statements.

Blood Sugar is their best album, though admittedly I am a whore for the funk.

Can someone please explain the appeal of the RHCP.  My buddy is obsessed, and I find them mediocre at best...

Their old stuff was far too "funky". I can't really even consider it music, which is sad cause from Californication and after (and maybe like half of BSSM) i'm obsessed with them.

I'm gonna have to side with CarnivalBarker on this one, i think SA was definitely their greatest album.

I'm actually surprised by the amount of people on here who like their older stuff that much.

:lolwut:

1) Music can never be too funky.

2) How can you consider super fucking funky bass and guitar not music.  I'm actually baffled.

Their old stuff just sounds like a bunch of noise to me.

It's interesting though that they do seem to have two definable eras of their music that you can easily separate and say "This is when they changed", which also seems to split the fan base for them.

Too funky wasn't the right choice of words. But I know what you mean. It doesn't do anything for me either.

The more melodic stuff is much better but still not amazing. At one time I thought they were godly. Well I also thought sublime was awesome at one time and I remember thinking korn was the shit in middle school. Just phases I guess  Mosta these kids in here are around 20 I bet five or ten years from now they'll be like "RHCP, meh"
