I have been studying for a Windows 7 certifcation test and I thought you were trying to edit and iso image, so I thought of DISM.
Deployment Image Servicing and Management (DISM) is a command-line tool used to service Windows® images offline before deployment.

GIMP works great on my ASUS 1201N. Even 300dpi posters aren't too much of a problem, though I do have some extra RAM installed.

I thought dism edited wim files
wiki:
Like other disk image formats, a WIM file contains a set of files and associated filesystem metadata. However, unlike sector-based formats (such as .ISO, .CUE/.BIN used for CD and DVD images), WIM is file-based, which means that the smallest unit of information is a file. The primary advantages of it being file-based include hardware independence and single-instance storage of a file referenced multiple times in the filesystem tree.
it does .iso's also? it must, .iso's are the primary deployed windows images. I don't know much about windows in a network environment. I kind of don't want to. I hate windows
how much does dism.exe cost? what job are you going for? wouldn't it be easier to just manage whatever you capture as an image first before capturing it instead of editing it from a command line? lol sounds painful. hey if I'm wrong I'm wrong

Test 70-680, I think I am ready for the test I took a windows 7 class last spring and have been studying hard this summer.
DISM is part of the WAIK Windows Automated Installation Kit and is free from Microsoft. DISM is a command line interface that allows to make changes to a custom WIM file or some shit... I think your right about managing an image before capturing would be easier than doing it with a command line, but in order to get certified I need to know a bunch of needless stuff. http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=5753
