The pictures are so small that I can't see any details of the volva, the structure at the base of the stem. Do you have larger versions of the photos?

I find that A. Muscaria will have two-three concentric rings around the volva ( the big bulge at base of the stem) but I'm not sure if this is true in all variations. Looks a bit yellow for guessowii, maybe muscaria var formosa I'm not too good with Amanitas, especially the ones from the east coast.

Can you get a better photo of the base of the stem? It's tough to tell from that picture what is going on down there.
Usually the stem is shaggier on guessowii specimens, but that is still an option.
EDIT: I'm pretty sure formosa is European and guessowii is American.

Never knew that about the stems. Isn't the Var. formosa just the color of the cap being yellow instead of red? I get confused with the muscaria because of the separation of American and Eurasian species. I never understood why they are separated, unless it's genetics are different. I use this kinda as a quick key sometimes. http://www.shroomery.org/10224/Hunting-Fly-Agarics-in-North-America

That is only from ones that I have seen, and that is only in photos.

Again I'm not sure. I am much more familiar with flavoconia, flavorubescens, and frostiana being from the northeast U.S. I should just stop posting in this thread, haha.

Make a new thread, it will be easier. Also add a good description and pictures of the base of the mushroom.
