Not sure about the quantity of mushrooms leads into a misdemeanor/felony. All I know mushroom spores are legal; however, cultivated the "illegal" kind can lead into trouble since it is against the U.S. laws.
A quick search of google I found: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Legal_status_of_psilocybin_mushrooms

I agree, it is very surprising. I guess enlightening yourself with nature's gift is on the same level as heroin.

It's amazing that a person can have whatever sort of perverted sex they want to have and it's perfectly legal, including videotaped orgies (within the home). Yet putting certain chemicals in my body, in the safety of my own home is illegal.
something's not right.
I believe eating mushrooms is part of my religion and belief system.
Edit: not that perverted sex should be illegal, my point was that ingesting magic mushrooms in one's home (or on one's property) should be legal.
The minute I walk out into public, sure, arrest me. I'd be fine with that.

Including in the US Military, and the way they define sodomy is even more hilarous. It is any type of oral sex. So technically, a soldier should not be eating out his wife or else he's breaking the law. However, they only enforce it when it benefits them (to kick out gays). They don't enforce it for heteros.

same here.
if a police officer walks up to my house in the middle of a fucking 120 degree summer afternoon
and im fucking my wife in the ass, and he peaks in my window to get a good look.
within the law he has every right to take both of us to jail.
at least, in my state.
but like you said, they wouldnt do it unless they had a problem with me.

insane... speaking of absurd laws. It is illegal to ride my bicycle on the sidewalk in Omaha. Which puts me in a tight spot since all the drivers want me off the road anyway. I survive.

I wonder if it makes sense to grow edibles in your house while growing psychedelics, this way you can claim you didn't know they were magic.
How could they prove you knew what they were, or would it even matter that you claim to not know? Maybe just the fact that you had them.
It's just dumb to think that some 80 year old woman accidentally picking some cubes for her soup might go to jail even though she didn't know they contained psilocybin. So to me, it seems intent would come into play.
