should just be like any other iso burner, I like freeisoburner. However, set the burn write speed to the lowest settings, sometimes it messes up how well a disk writes. was your iso working on your windows pc? I don't know much about mac

to be honest I may not know much about mac, but an .iso is an .iso. if they had a file system from independence day on an alien computer network, how could the .iso work any differently, once on a cd, it's an image and can't be anything else? I don't know how that image will run on the mac file system, but I assume the disk won't work because it's not burned correctly. Have you tried to write the disk again at a lower speed??

disk utility on a mac burns isos into bootable discs just as one would expect... so, you used a mac to burn it, however, you're trying to boot on your pc, correct?  go into bios and see if your boot order has your optical drive set before your hard drives - if not, change it, and boot again w/ the cd in the drive.

> i transferd a iso file from my pc to a flash drive then i loaded it to a mac and burned to disc.

Run disk utility from applications/utilities
Select Images->Burn from menu  (or press CMD-B shortcut)
Select the ISO you want to burn
Click the Burn button
Insert optical media when prompted

(If you insert the optical media first, tell it to "ignore")

> once on a cd, it's an image and can't be anything else?

You can write the ISO image to optical media, which is what the OP wants... or, you can write the ISO (as a file) to optical media, which is not what the OP wants.  The first creates an optical disk that is a copy of the ISO.  The second creates an optical disk that contains an ISO file.  Big difference.

blew my mind. I didn't know an iso could be anything on a disk besides an image. on a flash it's still an .iso right? but do we know if it's because he booted it wrong yet or do we just know it doesn't work. could be a bad disk, could be he booted it wrong.

and I am confused as to what cosmic joke was saying, I thought he burned it on a pc and tried to boot it into mac, it's the other way around? also what is it an .iso of?? using windows files on mac or > using mac files on windows = bad idea
we don't know what he is trying to load. is the op trying to dual boot mac and windows? I hear the original boot master file and grub doesn't like that. first op needs to give us more info. he should try burning the disk again as shroomism pointed out, possibly at a lower write speed. I've never created an optical disk that contains an iso image, but that would be a big difference, so let's assume he is burning it AS an image.

NOW, we should find out what he burned, how he booted it, and why is doing so. this should diagnose whatever he did, and from there make it easy to understand how to fix. jesus I've never heard of anything shared between a mac and windows that works between the two, now even .iso's don't like being shared.

could be something he did wrong, or could just be whatever is on the .iso, anything SLIGHTLY windows loading on a mac or SLIGHTLY mac loading on windows is going to disagree. just saying

... he said the he transferred the iso from his pc to a flash drive, burned it on a mac, and came home (presumably to his PC)... read the OP again.

yes, merely the .ISO file could be burned to a disc (which would be useless to the OP), or a disc could be recreated from an ISO image (which is what the OP wants)..
