What extention are you saveing the file as? .avi,.wmv,.mpeg........make sure its not .wma,mp3,mpa, or another audio ext. Also recheck any settings and filters to make sure that video is being recorded. And last but not least how big is the finished file?

Oh yeah and what codec are you using?

Anyone who says you need a mac to do video is only half right. If you want to do a video and have it as professional as possible then I would agree go with the Mac but if you are just a basic beginer looking to record you home movies or back up your dvd collection then I would have to disagree espeically when recording back ups of dvd movies, with the DIVX and XVID codecs as advanced as they are there is no other choice in my opinion.

O.K. here is my advice then go and get the Nimo codec pack and DIVX (divx comes with the codec pack but it is not the full version and is a little less funcional, but if you are in a hurry just get the Nimo Codec Pack) Nimo's pack contains many different audio and video codecs everything from mp3 to ogg vorbis audio and everything from mpeg4 (microsoft) to DIVX and XVID and the best part is its absolutely FREE easy to install (just make sure not to install the G400 if you dont have a G4 graphics card or the biqubic resizer if you are not having a problem with upside down video.

Without proper compression of audio the files can be huge and with out a good codec the video will be nasty just think Mp3 audio and DIVX video and the file will sound better look better and take up ALOT less space
Hope this helps.

I am not much of a mac person, but I gotta admit that the internals of the high end G4's with dual processors blow the doors off of anything in the intel/micro$oft world.  Add a 23" digital cinema display and I start to drool.  The next step up would be something in the SGI line... too bad SGI never could implement a decent OS.

Woohoo, hardware and OS debate...

Hmmm...well I guess that depends on what he intends to do with the video, if he wants to make the highest quality DVD and make it look like a pro (with menus and all) I would have to agree go with Mac.

But if he intends to publish his video on the net I would go with a high end PC and DIVX or XVID.

But a debate is senseless since he already has a PC and is just asking for help.
