Say your local community gets hit next week by a major natural disaster, and you knew this so u decided to pack a emergencybackpack to get you and your family ready for the survival....
What would you put into it?
Heres some of the things i would gather with me...
Knife & Multitool (If u have firearm thats a plus too ) Map and compass Flint or fire starter kit Fishhooks & line Metal cup or metal can Water sterilizers Emergency blankets (one for each family member) First Aid Kit with medical gloves Basic first aid guide Duct tape Sewingkit Rope Flashlights with Batterys Canned foods & Snacks Dry and warm shift of clothes, a wool underlayer, fleese as middle layer and a rainproof upper layer is the safest method to keep warm and dry if u live in a cold enviorment
Safe travels everyone

Add personal/valuable items. Paperwork, ID's, Deed to your house, jewelry, passport, credit cards, etc....
Ditch the canned foods and go with high calorie, high protein dried goods. Beans and rice FTW.
Maxi Pads. They are dual purpose. They do the job they are intended to do, but also make an awesome bandage. Pair it with your duct tape for a compression dressing.
Don't forget any personal meds.
Often overlooked items on a regualar backpacking trip: Sunscreen Hats warm/sun depending on season
Also didn't see water bottles on your list.

-magnifying glass can be used to quickly start a fire, even when wet. The downside is sun is needed
-mirror you can signal other people from afar
I'd also replace the flashlight with one of those combo ones which is a wind-up flashlight radio thing.

Nice add on, by something to carry water in i put metal can, could be used both for cooking and drinking, though you got a point, bottles would be most beneficial...

> Flashlights with Batterys
I'd ditch both of these. Batteries are heavy and can cause a huge mess if/when they leak. I would add in a handful of glow sticks instead. They are light, have a long shelf life, and can be dual purposed as markers if needed.
A few more things...
Mole skin Safety scissors Small sharpening stone Spoon (don't need a fork, already have a knife) Extra socks Gloves Sleeping bag Ground cloth / tarp String Light rope Containers for water Small sponge Small tent
-------------------- Just another spore in the wind.

Nice one might also wanna bring your toothbrush, a little soap and some toothpaste in a ziplock bag. (Personal hygiene is great ) Might wanna bring a couple extra of those bags aswell...

Oh yeah, not really part of a backpack, but a bicycle is the most handy vehicle to have in case of an emergency. If there is traffic and/or broken roads, the bicycle can get around them. You can also cover quite a distance on a bicycle.
If you use a bicycle, a multi-tool, puncture repair kit, and pump will all be needed. However, these can be kept with the bicycle.

well ...hate to break your bubble. Your first problem will be dodging military helicopters, as well as an armada of other military technology which will intercept you and keep your ass contained in a FEMA concentration camp.
If you are caught outside the FEMA camp without proper papers or authorization you probably would be shot and killed on the spot.
So put that in your pipe and smoke it. While in hiding, I guess most of that stuff in your nap sack, you could all ways shove up your ass, because it wont be much use to you when you are dead.

Your positive attitude is truly inspirational Already well aware of the FEMA camps, thanks for the heads up though... IMO, Looking at all the signs of shit going down in our universe these days, i believe theres bigger issues facing us long before FEMA and/or martial law will step in..
