Hi Eric! I've germinated semperviva from a print that I got from Una. It grew quite quickly over straw/dung (10:1) mixture and I'm going to make casings in the next days. I'll post pictures if something comes out!

These shroomerites have grown it and I use their posts as a reference:

Hi,

I did some extensive work on this one. I even had a straw cake, which fruited (not kidding) for about half a year. I love this one. Everybody I know that has eaten it, has been surprised by it's strength ;-)

Read my posts about it and if yor still have questions feel free to ask. One thing is important, the soil has to contain good microflora, i.e. pasteurize it and let the humid soil stand for at least a week in a plastic bag. The longer the soil is kept lilke that, the better.

Do you have access to spores? I'm off town for at least 3 month. If you have not gotten spores until september, I can send you some then.

Have fun,

Elektrolurch

My experiment is not going too well. I noticed a pin only today and I'm afraid... it looks so much like a cube pin. :frown:

Hi,

the pins of Psi. semperviva have a distinc light golden coloured cap. I think the most cubensis have at pin stadium a quiet brown cap...

What temps do you have? I had best results with 22 C to 24 C (72 F - 76 F). Before I forget, the semperviva like it bright. The fruits grow the best under bright light.

Yes it has a lighter colour then cubes.  I'm 100% sure that the culture is not a cubensis, but since I grew cubes in the same terrarium it could get contaminated.
I cold shocked them for a week and now I keep them at 20C. I'll try to raise the temp, like you said!

Thank you very much for the info!!!

I'm so close... at least one tiny shroom! However I'm also spawning new substrate so I'll make it sooner or later.
I'm taking pictures, but it'll take some time because I use old non-digital tech.

Elektrolurch: did you ever grow P. aztecorum? That's another rare species that I'm going to try. I have to pull some more info from you before you dissappear again for 1 year.

mm.. they look similar to what someone sent me as 'mexicanna' which i had identified as linoformans - although Mr.mushrooms thinks that it wasnt Linoformans. I sent it to you recentally Zeronio.

They really look very similar. However the appearance of cultures of your suspected liniformans & my semperviva is a bit different. We'll see when it grows.

I am working with bluemeanies unknown and I almost gave up on it. The spores took forever to germinate and colonization of grass seed was slow and thin. But I cased it anyway and now the mycelium is thickening up and looks promising. I hope to see pins soon.

I got a culture and it colonized a jar of oat grain in about 2 weeks. Not too bad.
I will inoculate straw/dung mixture with it.

Its a weirdie - i dont really think that its Semperviva, but Mr.Mushrooms has informed me that he doesnt think its linoformans. Workman, i too nearly gave up on it, but cased a tiny bit of rye grass seed and it pinned after three weeks. I bit slow even with the pinning, but i think the yield will surprise you!

Did you ever determine if it was active?

lol that's my liniformans. I probably mislabeled grain jars.

No wonder why it colonized so quickly.

The semperviva came out to be the correct one:
