Secure HTTP (S-HTTP)
    #14946292 - 08/19/11 08:24 AM (12 years, 8 months ago)

The other day I was reading about Secure HTTP for some reason http://www.homeport.org/~adam/shttp.html
I don't think i have ever seen a website url that started with shttp:// i only remember seeing https://.

I tried a bit of googling and i still couldn't find an shttp website. anyone seen any site like this? like a bank or a store or something like that is what i would imagine i would find shttp.

Exactly. It doesn't. Secure http addresses begin with https. Simple as that.

eh, for some reason i thought they did.

as i understand it Secure HTTP is something completely different than regular https:// websites. so i think you may be confused koraks. maybe i'm the one confused though.

HTTPS should not be confused with the little-used Secure HTTP (S-HTTP) specified in RFC 2660.

from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HTTP_Secure.

It appears that you're right  Here's a useful link (second post provides a good explanation): http://www.proprofs.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=14857

oh, i've seen that thread and that explanation. i'm just wondering how can i tell if i'm on a S-HTTP site, i thought it might be like https and have a shttp:// on the url. i have no idea though.

edit. i know S-HTTP is not widely used but there have to some sites out there that use it.
