How to bring rH down to 85%-92% for fruiting?
    #725337 - 07/05/02 06:19 PM (21 years, 8 months ago)

Hey gang,

I cant figure out how to bring the humidity in my terrarium down to 85%-92% for fruiting. I am using perlite for my humidity. So how you all the pro's in here who use perlite bring the rH down?

remove some of the perlite and water.. honestly though i don't find dropping the humidity really necessary w/ cubes. basically the lowering of humidity stops the formation of new primordia.. i don't really see a huge problem with this even though i'm sure that they'd be some who'd disagree..

I'd also like to know that but how about adding more dry perlite to ur already damp layer and misting much less or even not at all ! But yea, a Poo BAHs advice would help! =D

I don't think adding more perlite would reduce humidity enough to notice a difference, but the thought is there.Your best bet would be to up air exchanges I believe.

FAn more offten or leave the lid slightly cracked open. I usualy stick a pen in the grove in the lid. this keeps it open just the littlest bit i usuly get about 90% with this and 1 inch of perlite in a 10 gallon rubermaid.
hope this help

I dont think you are supposed to mist perlite....

I figured that i would put something over a little part of the perlite, something like a peice of plastic or leather. If i covered up some of the perlite, in theory it would lower rH....i hope.

Thanks for the ideas all

Once fruiting, mist casings directly, at least once a day or as the surface drys up for more then a few hours.

I for one appreciate you using the search function.  Your best bet in getting specific answers to any questions you may have is to start your own thread.  It's kind of a double edged sword around here but, most people tend to get bitchy when you bump old threads and add no content.
