A rumor ive also heard surrounding acid is that some groups of producers use a thumb print into a couple grams of crystals to initiate people into their "acid tribe". Total bullshit, but then again who knows?

The only way you get into the acid family is if you plug a 5 gram LSD crystal. Duh.

I think Chinacat72 mentioned something about how they used to leave thumprints in the palm of your hand, but soon they just turned to swollowing it for the convenience of it.

Not bullshit at all, there are great stories about this. Chinacat himself has experienced a thumbprint. There's a very historic thread around here about thumbprints.

I enjoy acid, a lot. The experience alone is something different and I walk away with something new and useful. But a thumbprint...sounds fucking insane.
Also the grateful dead drummer thing. I don't...I can't even fathom what that would be like.

That's really a terrible thing to do, but there's still some people that I think could use a dose whether they want it or not.
In the fantastic book, Acid Dreams, the author mentions a plot by the Brotherhood of Eternal Love to dose President Nixon, but it never worked out. The idea was certainly creative though. Can you imagine dropping an "acid bomb" on a islamic extremeist training camp out in rural afghanistan? That would be one hell of a youtube video:)
how is that a terrible thing to do
how is that a terrible thing to do? umm..maybe because not everyone can handle a substantial dose of acid and its not right to just go around dosing people with acid without telling them first.
This was not my original post, I can get back to that later, but I was reading James Fadiman's The Psychedelic Explorer yesterday and I cam across this; "Dosing without the recipient knowing about it or giving permission is like rape: it is not a gift, it is not a psychedelic act, and it is never okay." pg 88
I personally think the water guns are a myth, same with the sprayers, but the mister/sprayer idea does sound very cool...The water gun myth just got started because water guns are like the number 1 awesome thing at hot summer festivals, so people walking around get to making trippy assumptions, and "wouldn't it be cool if..." But to really do it seems like a waste - I trust Nick Sand too, I think it does not absorb through the skin - eyes, mucous membranes, sure...I'd bet the water gun thing has happened at least once, but it was done more with people playing around with each other, than just going out and trying to mad dose strangers...
I once asked an elder on tour if he ever heard of anyone taking acid and not coming back (I asked him, because he'd been in the scene since the 1970s and hes been working from within all these years, so I figured he would have some real-world data to reference). He told me a story that sounded like something Chinacat posted about a guy who raped a girl on tour and they fed him a gram, said the guy was never the same after that (and then said "but f*%k him").
My original post was not only off topic, but I mis-read what REO posted and from that mis-reading ended up tangentially dis-located from the thread.
I think Hofmann either intentionally dosed himself, had a tiny bit on his finger and rubbed his eyes, or had a spontaneous mystical experience not related to ingestion of LSD, but maybe from opening the Pandora's box that was LSD; fascinating read on the mystical experience theory Hypothesis on Albert Hofmann's Famous 1943 "Bicycle Day"

Thanks for that link DWP
I have some friends that blow glass in a big studio... I walked up there one time and saw a big watergun on the table, and asked why there is a water gun on the table. They told me that a few nights beforehand they filled it up and poured a vial in it and sprayed each other and whoever asked for it at a party.
seems plausible to me, but its certainly no mystical ritual

Did you ask them how it worked? Was it effective? Would they do it again?
(Also I wasn't saying the water gun thing had any connection to Hofmann's Mystical Experience Hypothesis...those were two separate trains of thought - sorry!)

Yea they said that it was awesome, but I have a feeling that hey all had a head-full before they had even begun with the water gun , who knows how effective it was or not.
