It could be. You did take it from a lawn? There are 2 tests you should try on it.
First, get a spore print. It should come out white to pale tan.
Second, as Mr_Mushrooms suggested, bend the stem. I can typically wrap a Maramius stem clear around my finger without breaking. They are tough and fibrous.
In a lawn they will typically come up in fairy rings. If it is, then there will soon be more of them and they will keep coming up as long as they get water.
Happy mushrooming!

I don't think it is, but that's my uneducated useless opinion.

SOrry guys i was in a real hurry when i posted it. The mushroom was found growing in rings in grass and had a velvety coating on the stem towards the base - it has a very leathery and bendy stem, so it certainly meets that criteria, and the spore print was white. It was found in typically temps around 3C to 18C after a few days of heavy rain and are very common in lawn in Melbourne Australia. So are these guys really edible?

One thing that ive noticed that deviates from the descriptions ive read is that this mushroom does not have a striate margin or its certainly not very visible anyway.
