The ability to shut the part of your brain up that says your not in controll to the point that others beleive you are in controll
-------------------- Go through the orange yesterday
I watched intently for a while to both sides, infront of me and behind me.
I was impressed to learn there was another way to look... UP!
More impressive still was the fact that there were beautiful stars in this direction
Most amazing fact of all was the prospect of another direction when I was done with up. DOWN! Which, based on the feel through my toes would be a fine sandy beach!
The conflict you set up reminds me of something by Karen Horney. She said that there are 3 basic (neurotic) ways we defend against something we perceive as threatening: we can move against it (try dominate it, have power over it), we can move toward it (we submit to it, try to please it), or we can move away from it (remove self from the situation, escape through fantasy). I think that both the need for power and the need to submit are ultimately engaged in to allay insecurity.
