Cannonball Adderley feat. Miles Davis "Autumn Leaves"

damn this is some good music!

--------------------

"We are all intoxicated. We were born into an insane asylum, a world crazy-making. We believe what we see and hear. The real myth is the myth of sanity, of rationality: it's a disease that is eating away at the earth. All the poisons flow from our denial. We deny madness, we forget our crimes, we dismember the corpse, we imprison our children. We need poison to poison the poison, to remember the sacred nature of intoxication, the green body of the young god." ~ Dale Pendell

I'd give jazz a chance if I didn't fucking HATE saxophone.

I know there's some jazz without it, but it's not worth the risk.

How do you hate saxophone?

--------------------
"I have no way of knowing whether you, who eventually will read this record, like stories or not. If you do not, no doubt you have turned these pages without attention. I confess that I love them. Indeed, it often seems to me that of all the good things in the world, the only ones humanity can claim for itself are stories and music; the rest, mercy, beauty, sleep, clean water and hot food (as the Ascian would have said) are all the work of the Increate. Thus, stories are small things indeed in the scheme of the universe, but it is hard not to love best what is our own—hard for me, at least."

To me, it sounds like cats being raped.. just makes my spine ache. I don't know why, the frequencies it produces just grates my being.

most poeple hate sax because of the kennyG cheesy reputation it has.

I uploaded this on zshare JUST FOR YOU so you have a chance of hearing it in an other context that "traditional" jazz.

it's still jazz to me but this song is VERY energitic and soulful and good!

the sax is really upfront so listen to it but when you're done check the bass then the drum and the piano, aaah this song is perfect to me!

Amaury Perez - yo tengo un amigo.wav - 15.14MB

PLEASE tell me what you think of it

edit:you could also check any David Axelrod song. MANY rap group sampled it if it can encourage you any...

Don't like sax?  Blasphemy!  Have you ever heard Chris Potter?  Because he's the fucking MAN.

Case and point

Chris Potter - Rumples

Also, the drummer on this track is absolutely unbelievable.  I saw Dave Holland Quintet a month ago - it was Dave Holland, Chris Potter, Steve Hutchinson, Nate Smith (holy fuck he stole the show) and Robin Eubanks.  It was the best show I've ever seen.

If Rumples doesn't blow your mind, you weren't meant for jazz.

EDIT: If you're not a serious jazz head, listen to the head, then skip ahead to 4:00 for one of the best sax solos you've ever heard.

I know right?  Man it's such weird chords, but Potter has a way of making everything the funkiest shit you've ever heard.  I can't even begin to comprehend.  The guitar solo is pretty 'outside the box', but if you don't like that and skip past to the sax solo, I pretty much guarantee almost everyone will like it.  It's at 4:00.
