Haha surprisingly enough, that's kind of how I pictured them based on your description. I really like the idea of the self-healing noc holes and tyvek GE holes.
I do have a question though... How do you sterilize? It seems like you wouldn't be able to boil/steam/pressure cook with the tyvek and bandaide material attached.

Just a quick update:
I've drilled 1/4" holes in all six sides, 2 inches apart for my terrarium.
Also.. it looks like growth has ceased for 1-2 of my jars. Maybe I'm just being impatient/paranoid here. Thoughts?

tyvek, bandaids, and rtv are all pc and dishwasher safe. all is well in that department.
just wait for them...shit will work.

No kiddin? Well it looks like I'm going to have to mod my jar lids for the next grow. Thanks for the tip YKED!
I think I'll post new pictures tomorrow. Some of them are starting their consolidation period!

what did i mean by that? been gettin high again lately...what are you gonna do.
anywho, yeah, that shit will survive the pc like 5-6 times before you need any repair. and i hate washing them by hand, so i put them in the dishwasher too.
once you make them, a HUGE weight will be lifted off your shoulders. NOW, you can just noc right thru the lid, flame needle, and noc up another right thru the lid.
and they look nice, if you make them look nice.
OH but something i must tell you that would make EVERYTHING a lot easier is micropore tape. i dont know HOW i forgot about this, but this is how that shit works.
it breaths, so thats good, and waterproof. anyways, instead of tyvek/bandaids, just a layer of micropore tape will work. and you can noc thru it, and just put another piece on top.
see how easy that sounds? so 3 (or 5) holes in your lid, one SPECIFICALLY for GE, the others for noc, and they will end up being double layered.
it survives the pc and the dishwasher too, but you would use new every round.

*PICTURE UPDATE*
These pictures were taken 18 days after inoculation and 5 days after my first group of pictures.
Jar 8 - Meh
Jar 7 - The worst jar
Jar 6 - Not bad!
Jar 5 - One weird spot of no growth
Jar 4 - Almost completely consolidated with the exception of one spot
Jar 3 - One of the best
Jar 2 - Getting there!
Jar 1 - My absolute favorite jar been strong from the beg.
Okay, so you'll notice that a few of the jars have slowed down in growth in some spots. Why is this? Do you think they still have a chance?
How close do you think I am to dunk&roll? A few days? A week?

The jars with no growth on the bottom is caused by the brf and verm being smashed to the glass and the myc cant colonize. Id suggest flipping the jars upside for the ones that are like that. You have to leave the jars flipped upside down until you birth them

Your cake's are pretty much fully colonized except for those few little areas. Turning the jar upside down will allow them to fully colonize. Fully colonized cakes are pretty contam resistant so you dont have to worry about it

Alright awesome, I'll go flip those bad boys. What about the other jars? How close do you think I am to dunking?

Aren't you supposed to give cake some consolidation time?
I think it was two weeks...

I believe a week minimum and a month for best results. If I remember correctly.

Okay I'll be honest, it's going to take some serious patience on my end to not pop these guys for at least a week and a half from now.
Question: How long can a cake survive like that? Or how long would it take for the cake to dry out I guess?
Also: Should I still flip them even if they have a week and a half left to go? I mean, I've heard something about shroomies knowing what kind of orientation they've been in during their lifetime. Right?

I have cakes that will sit upside down 2+ weeks before I birth them. It doesnt matter which way is up until you set them to fruit

flip the ones that need it, but only those. m not personally a big fan of the flip, but when push comes to shove, you do it.
cakes can live SUPER long in their jars. im not saying a number because i dont want to lie, but its a long ass time. after a while, you may start to see yellow metabolites (myc piss), but everything will still be fine.
they will also pin in the jar, and grow, space permitting. the cake will super shrink too. these are just things that will happen, no timeline.
mushrooms are like dogs, they live in the present. if they NEED flipped, do it. dont worry about upside down mushies from a flipped jar. but let one start growing, then flipp it, and it will stat growing up again.
