When pasting images into your Word doc, try doing a 'paste as...' and then select 'enhanced metafile' from the list. That may help.

Thanks for the idea but I can only paste, paste as hyperlink, or paste from scrapbook. I think I will try just combining all the images into one big image and sending it as another attachment.

Then try opening the jpgs in a photo editing program, select the entire image, then copy, and then try to 'paste as...' as I outlined above.

Does it have to be a .doc file?
I use a program called, "Cute PDF" - http://www.cutepdf.com/
It's free and really easy to use. It will make .doc files into .pdf files. Simply make your .doc file, hit print, then choose "PDF Writer". The file can then be saved as a pdf file and all of your images and fonts will appear has they do on your .doc file.

Can you insert the picture? Maybe try converting the picture to different file format. Try Bitmap.

That's the nice thing about CutePDF you don't need to insert anything.
Make your .doc file anyway you want. Insert pictures, use different fonts, anything. What happens is that when you go to print the .doc file. You have to choose "CutePDF Writer" as the printer that you want to print to. At that point, another screen will pop up asking you were you want to save the file. It doesn't print anything but it uses the print spool to take a ... well, it takes a picture of your document and automatically converts it to a pdf file. That pdf file will have all of the photos, fonts, everything that your .doc file has.
If you need help with it, just ask me.

In a college/classroom setting, the drawback of a pdf is that it is much more difficult/cumbersome to insert and keep track of changes and comments in the document. If that's of no concern, pdf is a good alternative. If they are, as is the case in my daily practice, pdf is effectively useless.
