Going POO hunting!
    #1489279 - 04/24/03 12:04 PM (20 years, 10 months ago)

It just so happens that Im going camping this weekend, and we're camping nearby a friend's farm, with cow's and straw readily available! However, I've been in cow fields before, and know that cow patties vary a bit. Would it be advisable to collect fresher poo, or older poo for an experiment? And how much would I need if I say, wanted to case ~ eight 1/2 pint jars? 3-5 cow patties? And about how much straw? I may also use the oppurtunity to do some hunting. I alos am going to try out some mimosa to, it's gonna be one hell of a weekend.

Get the dry shit.

--------------------
To call humans 'rational beings' does injustice to the term, 'rational.'  Humans are capable of rational thought, but it is not their essence.  Humans are animals, beasts with complex brains.  Humans, more often than not, utilize their cerebrum to rationalize what their primal instincts, their preconceived notions, and their emotional desires have presented as goals - humans are rationalizing beings.

Pick up the dry stuff and then collect the fresh and dry it for future experiments. You ll need the same amount of poo and straw. For 4 pints of spawn you could use anywhere from 20 to 40 pints of poo/straw mix, i'd start at the lower end.

Good luck, watch out cow poo can get a bit messy you just need to squeese it out a lot after pasturisation.
