Pondering the probability of growth Outdoors
    #1487750 - 04/24/03 12:29 AM (15 years, 2 days ago)

Can one start an outdoor patch with a liquid mycellium culture. Just wondering cause a bird knocked my jars into a spontaneosly prepared patch yesterday. So I guess what Im really asking for is a bit of fortune telling, mine in fact. THANKS.

it is possible but depends largely upon climate and species.
i assume you are refering to P. cubensis, so correct me if i am wrong.

what part of the world are you in?

[note: this is not an advanced topic, so don't be offended if it is moved to the general cultivation forum.]

Attn PWN hunters: If you should come across a bluing Psilocybe matching P. pellicolusa please smell it.
If you detect a scent reminiscent of Anethole (anise) please preserve a specimen or two for study and please PM me.

Im in Iowa the weather has been hovering between 40-70 degrees, its also been raining alot. Psilocybe Cubensis is the strain. And for some odd reason I couldn't get my message to post anywhere else. So im hoping some one will move it.

no, Psilocybe cubensis is the species.

anyway, i see no reason why you couldn't get a fruiting outdoors towards the end of spring, providing you keep the patch out of direct sun and watered till then, starting as soon as it warms up a bit.

i have my doubts that liquid mycellia will survive in a direct inoculation outdoors. it'd be better to inoculate grain and use that as spawn.

I guess time will tell. Thanks for your thoughts. If you want to know the strains (species) or is it strains, just joshing, they were Taz, Mex, Plantasia Mystery, Cam, Thai Ban Thanon.
