Went out last weekend and found a total of 2 pins coming up, though they were monstrous in size just like the start of season subs. Also found about 30 very dry shriveled subs. Hope my efforts to preserve my patches (first year for me) will carry over to a good flush next year. Really happy how this year my spots were all untouched (except by me ofcourse) I never saw another soul in this section of forest or signs of other pickers having been there such as rubbish, kicked shrooms etc.

was walking in the local forest today, and I found about 60(!) of these around a single bush:

What is the deal with buying prints off the net is it hazardous? I was considering buying one using a pre paid credit card thing, a PO box across the city and getting it like 3 weeks after it arrived
Afraid of being caught in any way
I don't really want to go picking, ever
Afraid I'll pick a poisonous shroom and I'll die, the thought terrifies me

No offense mate but if you're not confident enough to go pick wild mushrooms and accurately identify the active species, you're light-years away from ever cultivating a fungi tek :P
getting a paper cut from the envelope may be hazardous....though prints are legal.

from what I've read cultivating mushrooms isn't that difficult as long as you've read enough and follow the instructions
So thanks for the suggestion, but no
I am not experienced enough to pick them, and even if I was I wouldn't want to. My first and probably only shroom trip for this year and maybe next was ruined by the fear that the shrooms themselves were poisonous. I'm not trying shrooms again unless I've grown them myself, or I've got them absolutely positively ID'd here beforehand, which I did do last time as well

prints usualy will be sent in a business envolope so it doesnt really attract attention from customs, and hate to say it but smokeandtoke is right if you cant safely pick and identify fungus good luck trying to cultivate. Theres tones upon tones of helpfull info out there and its nowhere near as frightning as you think, just dont be an r-tard and do lots of research and never eat anything your not sure about

I got a year to read up before the season starts again
I don't really have any friends who pick so I don't have anyone to show me the ropes, so if I went out I'd be going out alone, picking for the first time, completely alone, everything I knew would be based on what I had learnt from reading up here.
Don't really feel comfortable basing my picking on purely theoretical knowledge. I'd get em ID'd of course before I ate em, did it the first time around but it really gets to me.
I'd feel way better if I had a friend who picked who'd take me out for the first time, or couple but I don't know anyone at all.
And if I did grow it'd be in like four years, I can't grow mushrooms while I'm living with my parents lol

lol then id suggest sticking to picking, i usualy go hunting by myself andlearned to pick my self so it can be done haha this is my 2nd proper season so im still kinda new to it all and i still manage to pull in thousands. I get where your coming from bout eating a poisonous fungus but thats why theres sites such as this so it reduces the poisonings and deaths, if in doubt spore print them or put them up here and let someone id them, and if ya stressing bout it that much aftes having them id'd then maybe mthe magic fungus isnt for you...

I just hate even considering the thought that they could be bad
if I educate myself well enough here I will be able to grow them. I bet I'm capable of picking correctly but the nagging fear would ruin my trip
sure as hell did last time, I was in my own personal hell for six hours, wasn't thinking rationally. That's why if I did manage to grow them then I wouldn't have to worry about the fear. I have plenty of time to educate myself on how to do it, 4 years at the least to got to/finish uni and stuff so I'm sure I'll be able to do it eventually.
I just don't feel confident going out there alone, I don't think "trial and error" is a good method in this case. Like I said if I had a buddy to go with I'd be more confident, but I don't.
As bad as my first trip was, the brief coming up period/mid peak was absolutely beautiful, and it was about a level three trip and that was enough to keep me thinking about getting more shrooms every single day since my trip, which was probably over a month now. So I would say the fungi is for me, but the picking is not.
I'd feel a lot better if somebody hadn't told me that amanita can grow in patches of subs, and the fact that they look similar really, really worried me too.
Out of curiosity, has anyone ever came across one in a patch of subs or something? I know they look similar, but if they're freshly picked, is there a distinct difference in the gills, stem and cap? Or would you need a spore print or a pinch (to see if it's blue or not) to figure it out.
The James Bond amanita is what gets me
And the psychedelic experience is defiently for me. Tripping was the most beautiful, incredible experience I've ever had in my entire life. I've never dug anything as hard as I dug my trip before it turned shit. So the mushrooms, or psychs in general are absolutely for me, I've never wanted anything more in my entire life.

lol i dont know who you get advice from but they clearly dont have a clue, yes amanita muscaria grow in patches of p. Subaeruginosa but they look absolutly nothing like each other. I beleive your mixed up with galerina marginata which can grow within sub patches and are very similar but galerinas dont bruise blue and have orange gills, a brown stipe and a rust brown spore print, subs can be bruised prior to picking and others will within a half hour after being pibked and have a purple brown spore print

although regarded as "poisonous" i wouldnt go to say that amanita muscaria are to be of worry, they are hallucinagetic and poisonous to children who may accidently eat them or sometimes at high doses. In saying that i still wouldnt go eating them and they do need to be prepared by drying them in the oven at a low heat to convert the ibotenic acid into muscimol which is what you want. And dont worrya muscaria dont look anything like subs, these you can not mistake they are the "alice in wonderland mushroom" red cap with white warts or sometimes without as they can wash off.

Without going into it too much, i smoke the red "skins" off of A. muscaria for a pleasant numbing tingly high, and for a tonic or sometimes even a bit of a personal voyage i'll consume them. Conversion of ibotenic acid is vital.
If you picked (subs) and ate them, then tripped, why did you stress i don't understand, didn't you wake up the next day and go....well shit they were good must be close or are active species? lol?

Yeah i believe it's got to do with the conversion, i noticed one batch in which i kept putting the juices back onto the fungi was significantly stronger, haven't had much time or energy to really explore the psychedelics this season, mainly the cold weathers put me off, but it's similar to how you can end up with a stronger batch of subs by using nice low temps.
ahhhhh I can't wait until it gets warmer!

Haha I remember an esteemed member of the forum last season wrote that an a muscaria 'trip', intoxication more closely, would change your life..
Me and a mate had a red skin each and while the effects weren't prominent during the nights drinking sesh I felt an odd sensation like an undercurrent.
We ended up smashing down mates front to door after we locked ourselves out just so we could smoke a few billys. Yes, this was probably more the grog, but boy did my life change when I lost respect from a group of friends for fucking up their place.
Its all good now, fixed the door and we all moved on, but I'll never forget the warning that amanita will change your life.
Peace.
