You can put a wallet file (wallet.dat) with the desired balance on a memory card or something and send that. I believe you can even write out the pertinent information (private/public keypairs or something?) on a piece of paper and send the coins that way if you like. The sender still has access to the coins at that point if he's kept a copy of the wallet file, so the receiver should transfer the coins to another address as soon as possible. Once that has happened, there is no way for a dishonest sender to steal back the coins.

An honest sender should still keep a backup of the wallet file until receipt is confirmed, in case the memory card gets lost. If all copies of the wallet are missing then there is no way for anyone to access the coins.

I'm not sure what situations this would be useful for though, it just seems like extra hassle for no benefit I can see.
