 Identifying San Pedro (pics)   1

I've been searching for a while and I have yet to find a list of San Pedro traits that one could positively identify them by. I think I've found one of a pretty decent size at a local grocery store's garden section, but besides lots of pictures I don't really have anything to reference it by. I've checked erowid and searched various other places and searched through the forums and have still yet to find a decent list of ways to identify a San Pedro and was wondering if anyone could help me out.

Lycaeum had a good identification guide on their site, i wish i could remember the link or could find it. But it worked like this:
1. Are the aerioles white, tan, or pink. If white goto 2, if tan goto 3, if pink goto 4.
2. Are the spines yellow, or brown, if brown goto 5, if yellow goto 6
3. Are there 6 spines..
etc.. etc.. then once you got through it all you'd get a conclusion based on the guide. search lycaeum maybe it's still there.

Thanks neuro but I failed to find what you were talking about. I ended up just buying the cactus. It was only 7 dollars or so, so I figured it wasn't a big deal if it turned out to not be a pedro. I actually don't think it is, the indention between the ribs seems to be to deep, but I'm obviously no expert. Here are some pics but they are pretty fuzzy, my digital camera really sucks.
Anyone think the could help me identify it? I can get more pictures if it would help anyone figure out what it is.

Looks like one to me.. but it also might be a cerus.

It's not Trichocereus Pachanoi and it's not Trichocereus Peruvianus. That much I do know.

It looks like a Cereus to me. 'm sure thats not pedro. Why is that second pic so diffrent from the other two?

It's not a trichocereus.
It is of the Cereus genus
My guess to species is Cereus Peruvianus.

the second picture is different because the camera was on something so that it was stable the other two were free hand and it's really sensitive to movement. Thanks for all the help kind of disappointing but hey it'll make a nice present to someone or I may just keep it around for company. Any advice on making sure it's a pedro next time?

green to green with blue tint. ribs not so deep next time, and V notches before the aerioles.

I do believe this trait is for Trichocereus Peruvianus.. I have pedros that dont show this but I KNOW are pedro's.. All my Torchs show this even the short spined...

It is a cerus. After it flowers you should get some tasty fruit.

Like even a dehydrated san pedro will not look like a cereus!
trichocereus ribs are almost always going to buldge out when dehydrated, thats your first sign that its not what youre looking for.
Don't get me wrong when I first started paying attention to species, and how plants actually look it was quite difficult.
The best thing you can do is just keep looking at pictures, look at different columnar species next to eachother repeatedly.
