I live by a woodshop and resultingly have mountains of cedar, pine fir and spruce shavings laying around leftover from the planers. Is there any way I could doctor them up for use as a cubensis substrate? or do they just not swing that way?

Ceadar is actualy a fairly toxoc wood, if you ever look at a dead ceday thats been laying for about 20 years, you notice there are no fungi, lichens, or any sort of rot, it's way too high in oils to be used for much outside of furniture...I dont even recomend it for animal bedding....pine, spruce and stuff...I hove very rarely seen softwoods used succesfuly with any variety, not even in the wild.

I think it has to do with softwoods high resin content. Its like a natural anti-biotic.
