You misquoted somebody else, I don't eat out.
I don't have internet, but I always drink beer. Beer is loaded with carbs and calories, so there is no reason not to buy it. Once again, I make a bit more than $5,000 (under 7,000) a year and live fairly comfortably, but I also save a lot of money because I live as frugally as I can without giving up comfort.
I buy a case of beer every two weeks and pay $50 a month for my unlimited EVERYTHING since I've been with Sprint for so long, and get added discounts through SERO or whatever the plan shit is. Those are the luxuries I live on, besides whenever I can flip bud real quick and get some free smoke, but I don't really do that any more because my town is too sketchy.
Saying I don't need a phone is crazy. My phone is my lifeline and I would give up absolutely every thing else before my phone. It takes me an hour to bike to work, and less than 30 minutes to get back, which means since I go to school full time, I'm running from class to school quite frequently which doesn't allow me to bike when I would like to. I don't have cable, although I do have a PS3. I think the last game I bought was Madden 11 last August, so it is coming up on a year without a new game. I don't play it much anyways.
You really are trying to tell me I shouldn't go to the doctor if I need to? Am I supposed to try to go to work with pink eye? Or bronchitis? Na, I'd rather get that shit fixed before it turns into Pneumonia and TB or I go blind. I don't go to the dentist though, I simply take excellent care of my teeth so I don't have to.
I don't smoke cigarettes, and I don't smoke that much weed (despite my name), don't really have money for drugs.
I live in a house with 3 people, and it is honestly one of the cheapest rents I could find in the city that allows me to get to school and work with the least amount of driving.
So yeah, if I made much less like some people suggest would be a "great idea," of course there are things that could be cut from my budget. However, if I got paid a dollar less per hour, I would not be able to afford ANY of the "luxuries" and would have to eat on even less money, minimum wage is too low, PERIOD.

You said you live off $7k/year and you seem to be doing great. You also only work half time. If you worked full time at minimum wage, you'd have an extra $7k/year to live like a king with. How is that too low?

I'm not able to work full time due to my school schedule and other commitments. I live just fine on $7k a year, never said I didn't. But if you were to slash my wages, I would be struggling to make ends meet. That's my only point.

Try homebrewing my freind. I make 60 microbrew quality ales for about 18 dollars. Your inital investment of $250 will pay for itself in no time.

My point is that you take it for granted that a part-time minimum wage job to make ends meet? That should be guaranteed by the legislature?
Along those lines: I can only work 1 hour a week due to my "commitments". I can't live on the amount of money I would earn working 4 hours a month at minimum wage, therefore minimum wage is too low.
