things to do with a dying cake?
    #1478237 - 04/21/03 04:13 AM (21 years, 20 hours ago)

My cake wasn't fully covered with mycelium but I birthed it anyway, cos it had been a month and I was anxious.

(it was my second try - the first one got green mould)

Anyway, it's been sitting in the fruiting chamber for 5 days now, and is coming along quite nicely, lots o nice fluffy fuzz. Although there were some green spots growing on the top of the cake, so I cut them out and off with a razor blade

My question is: Is there anything I can do with the mycelium as it is? Blend it up and add it to more verm/water?

Are there any other methods of growing mushrooms from a spore syringe?

Or fungs? Are there any other ways of getting high from it?

Thank you!!

You should try to get the PF tek down before moving on to other teks.

things to do with a dying cake? what is this, off-topic-discussion? throw it at the ceiling fan, and duck for cover.

good luck, milan. you need more patience - don't birth early cos you're anxious, don't cut off green then try to carry on, and don't ever try to get high from a green cake. you'll end up in hospital. :frown:

This was a bad idea. By birthing the cake before it's fully colonized, you risk contamination of the uncolonized portions.

When did your first attempt contaminate? Before or after birthing. Did you wait until 100% colonization?

You probably shouldn't eat any mushrooms off that cake. Getting horribly sick in the middle of a trip would be very, very unpleasant.

If you mean making up more substrate with the mycelium, that wouldn't work because you'd have to sterilize the substrate, killing the mycelium.

There are lots of methods, but if you don't have the patience to perform the simplest one (the PF Tek), it doesn't seem likely you'll succeed with any of the others.

Good luck!

ha ha, cool - thank you guys! I think I will cook up another batch.

(I got my first contam before birthing. The second one after. Ah, it's hard. But it's so worth it. Well, it's gonna be. I hope.)

Cheers
