When I was 14 to about 17 I had sleep paralysis almost every single night. I had really bad insomnia (I'm talking staying awake 4 days at a time) because of it (or had sleep paralysis because of insomnia).
It started out as just really lucid dreams for a couple years. Everyday without fail, I would remember my dreams. Some amazing, some horrible, most just abstract.
After a while the dreams started taking more form, becoming more real.
And then bam, almost every night I was having hypnagogic hallucinations. For anyone who doesn't know what they are, they are essentially hallucinations you have when you are half asleep and half awake. You can completely stand up and walk around, but the hallucinations will still be there for anywhere from a couple seconds to 20 minutes. Most of these dreams involved spiders (when you sleep your eyes rapidly move and your blind spot creates black squiggles that your brain then reinterprets as something else, usually spiders in most people).
The most beautiful dream I've ever had? I woke up and my room was glowing purple and red. There was a fluorescent jelly fish next to my bed floating in the air, glowing. The thing was much larger than me and was telepathically speaking to me. I got out of my bed (in reality) and the thing was still there. Completely 3 dimensional, completely real. I reached out my hand to touch it and it slowly faded away, the colors of my room slowly going back to normal, slowly waking up.
The most horrific? One week after the jellyfish I was lying in bed once more. There was a window above my bed and it seemed to slowly prop open. A spider crawled into my room from outside. I was used to seeing a couple spiders every once in a while from the hypnagogic hallucinations, so I thought nothing of it. And then more spiders came through. And then flies started coming in. At this point I'm no longer thinking it's a hallucination and I go into freak out mode.
Now imagine - we're talking about a couple hundred insects coming into your room from a cracked window. Kind of scary. Until all of a sudden the whole window very realistically busts through and an ocean of insects, larvae, spiders, pill bugs, snakes fills my room and covers me head to toe. The pain I started feeling as a result of the bugs eating me alive became very real, the most painful experience I've ever felt. I stood up (in reality) and ran out of my room, still covered head to foot in the hallucinatory bugs and snakes. For almost 5 minutes I'm deep in this hallucination, which didn't stop until I turned on and looked directly into a light. Scariest experience of my life.
------------------------
It's been years since I've had any 'uncontrollable' hypnagogic hallucinations. I can put myself into a lucid dream on command because of my experience with it though (takes me about 5 - 10 minutes). I LOVE lucid dreaming though, so it's a nice payoff.

Captain Chaos said: why would you like sleep paralysis??? dude, whatever entity is fucking with you. have you ever thought of fighting back instead of letting it put its finger up your a-hole??? whatever otherworldly things are fucking with you, they are trying to choke you out and you think it's cool lolzzzz
Yes once or twice.... lol. I attack these things just for massaging my leg, let alone sodomising me. The finger in the ass only happened once and while it was happening I tried to break the finger but it didn't stop it so I just pulled myself outta paralysis. The worst I get is bitten. Like I said I don't think these things are entities and if they are its pretty hilarious thinking about the things I've done to them in retrospect. I strangle them, try to break their fingers/arms, get them in head locks, I even give them nuggees lol.

I have no idea why anyone would want to have something like that happen. I have sleep apnea it has caused similar problems. It also causes me to talk in my sleep and other odd things. So I really hope that your theory about demons and sleep paralysis are not right. I feel lucid dreaming would be the best way to go about kicking some demon butt.
Like I said sometimes its scary sometimes its not. I get it every night but its rarely ever scary. Maybe its because I'm so used to it. Also when you know you can pull yourself out of paralysis that takes away a lot of the fear. Its like some crazy hyperdimensional that you get on when your falling asleep and when you get off it your in a lucid dream. Its pretty cool but like I said it can be pretty scary too. What you believe determines whether its scary or not. If you believe the hallucinations are demonic entities trying to possess your body then it will be terrifying. If you believe that its just something like dreaming and that you can't be harmed in it then its fun. I've been in it thousands of times and every single time I came out of it without a scratch so I have to wonder is there anything to be afraid of about it? You tell a little kid the boogey man lives under his bed and despite the fact nothing ever comes out from under his bed he'll be terrified of it. Thats the thing about fear. It doesn't matter whether theres actually something to be afraid of or not. In reality there is nothing in life worth being afraid of. We're all gonna die at some point so we don't really have anything to lose.

Thats not how it is for me, the second I regain control of my muscles the hallucinations stop. That reminds me of some sleep paralysis I had the other night where I thought there was a spider crawling on me. I was feeling lazy so I didn't feel like pulling myself outta paralysis but I had this spider crawling on me and I didn't know whether it was a hallucination or there actually was a spider on me lol. I pulled myself outta paralysis and there was no spider. I also noticed something I notice a lot. When I was in sleep paralysis I was sure that I was fully lucid and that my logic was functioning normally but when I woke up I realised that I wasn't. My logic was pretty skewed.
