totally didnt come to me.ha..it may be. shit maybe deer even..we do have a large family living in the area, but they are more interested in the elderberry bushes down the road it seems.. but i haven't seen any (rabbits) and what worked at keeping the rabbits away from mj isnt keeping whats eating my recent herbs away.
the fact that i see mice and chipmunks most is just why i assumed those were the culprits. also snails...snails mosdef like to nibble on stuff. but beer cans set in the ground should keep em away.

i only mention rabbits as you mentioned digging and also the ability to get somewhat higher plants (peppers). mice wont do the high plant thing. and rodents tend to burrow underground, not dig holes. squirrels and the like will dig, but im not sure how many greens they tend to eat??
but cats get them all. and if there are strays near you, put your left over meat from dinner in a bowl and bring one cat home...wont take long before all your rodents are gone...like magic.

My yard has one as big and healthy as a cat.

dont underestimate cats, they are born killers. At the very least they will scare it off
If not, you either have one bad ass fucking rabbit, or you need a cat with balls.

The latter.
But what's funny is my aunt, who lives nearby, has seven or eight cats, including an unfixed male (fortunately the only unfixed cat).
Maybe it's just one

we have four dogs..which can only help in the day time and certainly cant get whats underground unless its caught above ground. but they dig as if they can!
a cat is pretty awesome and are some damn smart creatures. i just dont have the time or space for a cat atm. who knows..maybe ill befriend a few strays and make them known its alright to come on the property..

that is what i do as well. i dont want to currently keep cats. i like them but i am a dog person. but dogs are more large and clumsy and they honestly cant hunt for shit compared to cats, at least small creatures. all they are good ant hunting for is a belly rub and some steak.

But be careful with cats, young cats have a tendancy to dig up plants in the garden and cause other mischeifs.
