i'm curious as to what someone can do with a bs of neuroscience. it's my impression, in the states at least, that you can't do really anything until grad school (minimum masters for lab work). that is the states though. also, i thought dissertations were for masters degrees. typically that's a paper you start researching and writing the second you go into your post grad program. i could be wrong though. i'm still stuck in undergraduate work.

You could be a lab tech and perform experiments. Essentially, all types of experiments.
A master's really isn't going to functionally be different than a BS. It may help your employment opportunities, but does little beyond that.

Disagreement and rivalry is at the heart of science and peer-review. Get used to assholes and frustrations.
We can suggest topics all day long, but it's your own interests and passions that make good research.
I sent a personal email to Charles Tart about research and he told me to go buy his book. Rick Strassman on the other hand actually responds to most emails. Write an eloquent proposal and he'll give you suggestions.
Fair play mate, your speaking the truth.
In fact after reading the forum over for the first time since posting I thought shit, I sound like some arrogant arse here lol! hate text chat sometimes, I can never seem to get my sense of humour across and end up sounding like Victor bloody Meldrew.

Not going into research mate, although that would be awesome, I'll be straying away from the academia side of things as far as a career goes. I'm with the NHS as one day a week at the moment, my career is with them when I graduate, don't want anything else.

The 2C family is not well researched in comparison to the naturals. Why not study if they are useful for psychiatric purposes, or the mechanism of how they bind to 5Ht-1 and modulate the 5ht-2a serotonin receptors? Or if indeed do or do not cause dopamine uptake or release. The literature I have read does not indicate that dopamine is involved, but I have had dopamine-like effects from 2C-E.
A good point about the 2C family you can still legally get samples of them for some experiments. YOu could get some, and under controlled conditions, give various doses to volunteers and possibly have some Psyche Ph'd candidates observe, or even do some observations and psychiatric examination of the subjects.
By the way, I Volunteer for a 30mg 2C-E trip, or a 12 or 14 mg 2C-P experiment...

Being critical in the process of peer review and academic debate does not require one to be a fucking douchebag.
