Worthy Humidity Question - Help Please!
    #1480495 - 04/21/03 11:38 PM (13 years, 7 months ago)

As I posted earlier this month, I bought a few kits, I just got one of them and put one in a homemade incubator. The incubator consists of a rubbermaid bin with a smaller clear bin inside. It's filled with water about a sixth of the way and i have a glass (to mount the heater) - the heater isn't submersible and I'm 15 so I'm working on a limited budget here so I'm just using this one. I'll show you a picture of it. My concern is that when I open it there is a LOT of water just beading everywhere, I was wondering how much humidity is to much. I have a mycobag with spores and substrate in the smaller dry bin. Here's a key for the picture, to kind of point out everything in the picture as it's sort of hard to tell what is what.

1. = Tin can (seperate the heater from contacting plastic in the event that that should happen)

2. = Fish heater (not submersible)

3. = Tall bear glass, to which the heater is attached

4. = Arm & Hammer, that mycobag was starting to smell, so I'm using this to keep the stank out

5. = The mycobag

I'm no mycologist by any means and I don't claim to be, if you think my incubator has flaws, please let me know in a polite manner so you don't discourage me from continuing. lol, I hope I don't sound like a retard now. Also please let me know how much humidity is to much. I'd hate to lose a crop that hasn't even formed mycelium yet. I'm just worried it might get to wet. Any ideas? Comments? Please! lol.

I wouldn't post your age anymore if I were you. I think you'll get more help that way.

It smelled like shit. And that was a type-o. I meant to say I'm 51. I'm living on a limited budget because I'm paying alamony for my two bastard kids. Or something like that. Heh, yeah.
