An Observation
    #1480437 - 04/21/03 11:15 PM (14 years, 9 days ago)

NBC, MSNBC, and CNBC are all owned by General Electric, one of the biggest defense contractors on earth.

And?

How bout this. Who does GE give millions of dollars to to fund campaigns etc.? My guess is both parties. Because there is only a very negligible difference between what the two do, and keeping everyone focused on those two parties keeps anyone else from coming to power, and acheiving substantial changes.

Don't forget the hopes of winning favors from the leaders.

That seems to be the limiting collective mind-set, 'both parties'.

I always wonder what to vote for. Do I vote for a polititian or for those who fund his campaign? That's why I'm a non-voter.

NBC is pretty liberal

MSNBC is pretty moderate.

CNBC I forget

Just because they're all owned by a certain company doesn't make them what you're making them out to be in you observation.

Exactly. Corporations, especially publicly-held corporations, are "in it for the money". The ideal situation for a large media corporation is to own some left-leaning media outlets, some right-leaning media outlets, and some moderate media outlets, because that way they cover the largest possible customer base and are attractive to the largest possible number of advertisers. In this way their profits are maximized.

For example, the infamous crypto-anarchist website, Z-net (the home of Noam Chomsky) is largely funded by capitalist corporations.
