I FUCKING DID IT!!! 200KG/440LBS DEADLIFT locked out and all! Fucking come at me bro!
it felt pretty fucking good too, didn't feel all fucked up and strenuous like my previous attempts and i still had steam afterwards so i widowmaker'd 140kg/308lbs x10 about 10 minutes later. i think all the accessory hamstring work i've been doing is starting to pay off...
my squat session was terrible (first workout) i felt really flat when i got to the gym and didn't think i'd get far but when i fucking pulled that deadlift i literally walked out feeling like fucking god. i barely made 1 rep of 140kg for my squat and was so deflated... but that deadlift... man... oh my god...
my goal of 200kgx5 by august is looking back within reach!!!

edit: shoulder is feeling a LOT better I think i'm going to drop barbell bench press for a while and just use dumb bells, i did a few sets on the bar and it didn't feel great so I just switched to dumb bells and managed some light sets with no discomfort at all...
my brother had the same injury a while ago and he said he just worked through it and eventually he came good again, so i'm feeling optimistic about it.

Hell yea, man in high-school I was benching 350lbs and deadlifting 600lbs give or take, squats were around 420lbs. It's harder for taller guys, right now I'm a weakbody compared to that tho but it won't take long to get it back, never does. I can relate to having awkward form when getting back into squats, it comes back quick tho.
I stopped lifting heavy after high-school and got into a lot of cardio, super sets and circuit training(nothing heavy, well not to me;)) because I was into mma til my thyroid went out. I cut a lot of muscle/fat, 70 lbs so I could fight as a lightweight, I went from 230lbs to 160lbs in about 2 and a half to 3 months.
I just started getting back into lifting not to long before my previous post, I saw this thread and was like cool. I'm still stressing in muscle recovery right now but soon I should be able to shake it and go at it with a more intense routine, kinda waiting to post my workouts til then cause right now they are pretty weak.
I seem to be having trouble recovering still only in my left bicep, that tendon that runs from your shoulder to your elbow behind your bicep is killing me, lol. Rest of my upper body is used to it now its just that arm that's holding me back.

fuck dude that's pretty brutal.. did you play football or something? it's always cutting when you see/hear of dudes much younger lifting weights you barely dream of being able to lift. considering i'm not really bulking at all (losing weight if anything) i'm pretty happy with my gains but i need to keep upping my reps like i have been to get more gains, the SS program has gone a bit stale for me I think so I'm adapting it a little bit more and accessorising a lot more.
Look forward to seeing your logs man... get amongst it! don't be ashamed of anything either, i may be feeling good about 200kg but it's barely a big deadlift!

Yea played football, I'm 25 now tho, stopped mma about a year and a half ago when my thyroid went out.
Using dumb bell bench should be a lot better for your shoulder, a lot more range of free motion then just barbell. When I would do those I'd do them on an incline but flat to and they weren't really bench but kinda like a butterfly bench motion but when I'd push up instead of just pushing strait up I'd turn the inside of the dumb bells inward to touch like trying to touch both sides of your hands where your pinkys are. So id like turn my hands inward as I press, also I liked doing them balancing my shoulders on a big aerobics ball, good for core and stuff.

Drop a cable pully machine to about half way down. Attach a single hand attachment. stand at an angle and keeping your upper body stiff and your elbow bent at a 90 Degree angle bring your arm from parallel to your side to in close to your stomach. This will strengthen the small muscles in your shoulder that you need to be strong and will keep you from re-injuring your shoulder.
You probably know the movement I'm talking about. There are many others but I know that this has worked for others in your situation.

It went well, I ended it maybe a week ago. But I'm up 7 pounds and all major lifts have gone up at least 30 lbs in 2 and a half weeks.
Sorry I'm not much of a blogger

well got some instructing from an ex-powelifting competitor today (without even asking for it, he saw my powerlifting stance in the squat rack and came to give me some pointers... said my form was great! )
he told me to exercise my CNS by pushing myself to the absolute limit, bumped me up to 160kg/358lbs and made me do like a 1/4, 1/3, 1/2 rep to at least push my mind into thinking it can handle the weight... seemed to work a treat with a little spotting... in about 3 more sessions i drop the safety bars down a bit more and do the same thing.
I don't really know what i was doing today, my week's routine has been thrown out due to my shitty work hours and i only had limited time so i did as much as i could.
i tried to pull another 200kg/440lbs deadlift today, thinking having 2 days rest would be fine... of course perhaps after CNS rape of the 160kg squat I got the bar just before the lockout point and dropped it. I wasn't too bummed, I know why I dropped it... will have to give a few days rest befoer i go for 200kg again... i just wanted to see how i'd go, i was still happy with that at least i can still get it off the ground...
my bench press is back! my shoulder is nearly back to 100%, i started doing some more intense shoulder stretching, shoulder dislocations, double-door bicep stretches etc and extra shoulder press exercises, my military press is nearly back to form... i'm a bit surprised i thought it was gone forever. i managed a 70kg bench today, probably could have been back at 80kg but i will take it easy....
did a lot of tricep and bicep work today, seems to be helping and i hope to get back to chinups and dips by next week.
we sail for sydney on sunday, so i will be in a different gym for 3 weeks... at least i can get back on my intense diet...
anyway, here's my workout for today:
(from fitocracy:)
Barbell Squat: 20 kgs x 5 (+15 pts) 60 kgs x 5 (+46 pts) 100 kgs x 5 (+77 pts) 120 kgs x 5 (+92 pts) 140 kgs x 3 (+101 pts) 160 kgs x 2 (+112 pts) 100 kgs x 5 (+77 pts) Standing Barbell Shoulder Press: 20 kgs x 8 (+18 pts) 30 kgs x 8 (+27 pts) 40 kgs x 5 (+33 pts) 40 kgs x 5 (+33 pts) 30 kgs x 5 (+25 pts) wasn't too bad... looks like i can jump back on these again.. shoulder is feeling nearly back 100% Standing Dumbbell Shoulder Press: 25 kgs x 8 (+34 pts) 25 kgs x 8 (+34 pts) 25 kgs x 8 (+34 pts) Shoulder Dislocation: 5 (+5 pts) Pendlay Row: 60 kgs x 10 (+52 pts) 80 kgs x 8 (+67 pts) 80 kgs x 8 (+67 pts) 80 kgs x 8 (+67 pts) 60 kgs x 10 (+52 pts) Barbell Deadlift: 100 kgs x 5 (+77 pts) 140 kgs x 5 (+108 pts) 180 kgs x 2 (+126 pts) 200 kgs x 1 (+136 pts) 160 kgs x 3 (+116 pts) Barbell Bench Press: 20 kgs x 10 (+17 pts) 50 kgs x 10 (+44 pts) 70 kgs x 5 (+54 pts) 70 kgs x 5 (+54 pts) 70 kgs x 5 (+54 pts) Dumbbell Bench Press: 25 kgs x 8 (+43 pts) 25 kgs x 8 (+43 pts) 25 kgs x 8 (+43 pts) Lying Close-Grip Barbell Triceps Extension Behind The Head: 27 kgs x 8 (+7 pts) 27 kgs x 8 (+7 pts) 27 kgs x 8 (+7 pts) Low Cable Triceps Extension: 50 kgs x 8 (+13 pts) 50 kgs x 8 (+13 pts) 50 kgs x 8 (+13 pts) Preacher Curl: 40 kgs x 8 (+16 pts) 40 kgs x 8 (+16 pts) 40 kgs x 8 (+16 pts) will get back onto dips and pullups on saturday wasn't expecting

well I was doing only seated dumbbell shoulder press for so long, and it was virtually the only shoulder exercise i did for so long, when i switched to military it was feeble, but the last week (especially since i did my shoulder in) I am now focusing on upper body a lot more, whereas before it was largely neglected. Lots of accessory shoulder/chest/arm exercises. My legs are getting huge, core and back is strong but arms and chest not so great.... need extra work.
I will write up a new program to start next week altogether.

Love it.
I remember doing Westside. Switching to Metal Militia. DC Training. Finally moving over to 5/3/1. My conditioning, strength, and flexibility are finally coming together.

I read a lot... Don't post much. I have what I think to be a loose piece of cartilage in my knee so I can't do weighted leg exercises... I am starting to look funny... Started to do a lot more core, weighted bosu ball things, and lunges for days. Thinking of adding 5lb dumbells to the lunges. Just scared. I try to do squats and it just kills my knee. Oh starting to get into deadlifting/ kettle belling...
