outdoor contamination?

are the shrooms people pick outdoors contaminated most of the time? , i dont understand how inside a house , taking precautions to be completly steril and still people get contaminations , this makes me think outdoor shrooms must all be contaminated, anyone can tell me why im wrong? :confused:

heh, In moe's (black moe not me) outdoor growing section, It said something to the effect of 'some bitch called mother nature' prevents contamination.

There is a nice balance of competing organisms in nature. So one shouldn't be able to get too strong of a foothold.

DING DING ! youre correct.. UV rays play a big ass part of why mold cant grow outside.. microbes also help in a small way..... throw a piece of bread outside.. I bet you that it wont mold like it would inside... :laugh:

i threw a half colonized cake (too soggy and stalled) in hole in my outside plants potting soil...dug it up a few weeks later to see whats up....fucking bright pink/purple contamination

I'd advise removing contaminations from PF style cakes before using them in an outdoor patch, as opposed to just tossing in whole cakes contams and all. The green mold seems to be able to continue it's spread across colonized portions of cake, even after precautions were made to remove the contam. It's very odd, and it seems that (at least with the green mold) the contam will continue it's spread on the spawn cakes, while leaving the rest of the substrate alone. At least this is what I was told... :grin:

many situations with indoor contamination are do to anaerobic bacteria(trichodermia i think might be one,green mold). outside dung spawn patches have all the 02 they need to stop the anaerobic forms of contamination from forming. superior gas exchange makes things easier. i think my donkey is guna thro some mycilium into some dung he bought. he's wondering how he should pasturize and in which ratio of spawn to pasturized dung he should use.

I have noticed the cow patties in the pasture that are covered with mold are the ones that later grow shrooms. Shroom mycelium is able to survive on natural media that are almost totally lacking in available nutrients and nitrogen. They are final stage scavengers that come along and grow, with the help of some friendly bacteria, on materials so used up and nutrient poor that nothing else can survive and they live largely on the remains of dead microbes that came before.

that is bacteria my friend. and it being burried low in soil helped the contamination thrive. gotta have manure in there... did you use manure?
