Black Ops XBL

Looking for some good players for TDM. My GT is "Bill Hicks ACID". I'll be on a lot for the next month.

I'll add you once I get on it in a couple of days. I haven't played in a while, but it'd only be a little bit for me to get back into the kick of things.

My xbox is red ringed and out of warranty. Looks like it might be cooked. I did the x-clamp fix and it worked for a few days. I'm going to try to re-flow the solder on the GPU and CPU. If that doesn't work then I am done with the xbox 360's. Its too bad, too. I was slaying major ass lately. My score per minute last week in TDM was 430 with a 2.7 kill per death.

edit

Looks like it might be an issue with the power supply.

My experience with the original case design was very poor. There are only some with the 45nm chip or something that are reliable, I think they're the Jasper units and they're somewhat rare.

However, having seen the inside of the new black slim ones and knowing that they all use the smaller chip die (that puts out less heat), don't have stupid thermal paste issues, and that the disc drives problems were sorted out, I would say the new slim models are likely on par with PS3's for terms of reliability.

2.7 KDR is nice...

But killstreaks & perks kinda burn the significance. None of my friends will play on barebones, because they know I'll just rape them at every exchange having spent the last 10 years playing normal shooters, lol.

There's a lot of trollface in Call of Duty, but it's part of what makes it fun. Also why people who really rage when they lose is so funny, because it's blatantly not a balanced game. In Black Ops of example, my KDR doubles once I've got an AUG, and then again when I get that "stoner 63" gun with the stupidly-high fire rate and ridiculous damage. Prestige and I basically just sit in corners and take cheap shots until the AK is available.

Yeah the 360 has a lot of issues. The x clamps to hold the heatskins on was a poor design. They allow the motherboard to give too much which causes the crappy solder on the GPU/CPU is become brittle over time and causes overheating issues as well.

Had a lot of issues. the New units seem to have absolved them. The white ones (again with the exception of the 45nm die Jasper units) are basically bunk. Of the dozen people I know with the new slim unit, I haven't yet heard of any issues. I have also seen the inside of the new units, and they appear to be built with much more care.

The HSF design alone makes a world of difference compared to the original layout. The new ones have a much better throughput and an improved heatsink with a shroud.

Until you've opened both it's difficult to understand. On top of actually having a proper cooling design none of the new units use the larger chipset that put off profusely more heat.  It just bugs me that they (Microsoft) released it the way they did- it was clearly a marketing ploy to beat out Sony, one that obviously came to some level of success. They take a loss on selling the consoles, so it's not like they'd be motivated to have designed obsolescence (or failure) like Apple does with ipods (irreplaceable batteries and deliberately limiting software design) and Nintendo does by slapping a new gimmick on whatever they're working with every 9 months.

So I have some avarice towards them, but no more than any of the other big companies.

Dear Sony,

It's called ERGONOMICS. I am a man with man hands - You honestly want me to believe the practical industrial design of video game controllers should be the same as it was in 1995? REALLY?

So yeah, there's a special place for Sony.

I believe that a young Japanese child with a lot of time on his hands could design a console that is more reliable than the first gen xbox 360. Eventually all chips will give off a negligible amount of heat.

Wat, if "a young Japanese child" is Intel, okay.

I had an older xbox get the red ring.  I picked up a new slim one, then plugged the old one in to take a disc out.  All the sudden the red ring was gone.

I like the new one though, its nice and quiet.

I play black ops but i suck.  I like to blame it on my gf walking in front of me.
