i have come across tons of dung-loving psilocybe's (psilocybe coprophila) in some pastures growing out of cow and horse dung. i have identified them properly and just want to know if theyre worth eating since they are fairly weak?

Damn, what poor advice telling someone to eat mushrooms that aren't even active. And to say they don;t grow in horse manure, wha? Thats where they are MOST common.
Psilocybe coprophila has been falsely reported and published as an active mushroom in some guides. This however is not accurate information as it has since been proven that they contain no traces of psilocybine or psilocin. No amount of this species ingested will deliver desired effects.
This species is common on composting horse and cow manure and can be found wide spread throughout much of America.

I thought they were most common on cow dung. Well, at least they are in my area. I've never seen them growing on horse manure/compost before...I'll only see campanulatus and subbalteatus on that.

Personally I try not to eat any of the little brown mushrooms... LBMs... because there is too much room for error and so many of them look alike even after seeing so many of them. Also the potency seems to be low in even some of the psilocin positive ones that you have to eat or stew lots of them. They taste horrible and acrid. I am not a fan.
