casing cake depth

a squirell i know wanted to know if the depth of colonized cakes in a casing has any effect on flush size. He tried a three inch layer with 50/50 casing layer and it yielded a pretty good flush. Would increasing the depth of the cake layer increase flush size?

Optimal casing depth is about 1/4 the substrate depth. If your substrate is 4" deep, use a 1" deep casing.

When my friend was casing BRF cakes, he found that about 3 1/2" was ideal. Using a deeper substrate did not seem to noticably improve the flushes.

Deeper substrate gives bigger shrooms (talking about an inch against four).
