Anyone grow their cacti under lights? If so, any benefit to a 24 hour photo period, like MJ growers do?

Here's some info about cacti some might not know:
Cacti are considered CAM plants, that is to reduce the amount of transpiration cacti stomatas are not open during the day, isntead they open at night. Light sensing parenchyma cells around the stomates tell guard cells to open when there is no light and close when there is light.
Why does this happen? The environment in which cacti and other cam plants live is very hot and dry. If the stomata were open during the day the rate of transpiration would be too great and kill the cactus. So instead with the stomata open at night CO2 can diffuse then through the stomatas without the worry of loss of precious water.
At night the CO2 is absorbed and converted into a 3 Carbon acid, which is later taken back apart during photosynthesis during the day and used to make glucose (and later ATP).
So it is very bad to have a 24 hour photoperiod for any cacti as the main majority of CO2 uptake is done when there is no light.

I wonder what would happen if you increased the CO2 during the dark cycle, and shortened it to just an hour or two.

My thoughts exactly If you think about it, it could very well be possible, under ideal circumstances, to obtain a foot or more a year from certain individuals.
But, thanks again for the info, entheo
