Slow mycellium growth
    #14756762 - 07/12/11 12:28 PM (13 years, 6 months ago)

So my jars are about 20% colonized after about a week of been inoculated they seem to be growing quite slow. Maybe because im not using a incubator and the temps are around 76F or maybe because i only have 2 1/8" holes in the lid and there not getting enough air ? Anyway i shook my jars up and im starting to think i did it a little early maybe i should of waited a bit. Is there any harm in shaking jars too early ?

Patience.  20% colonization, one week from inoculation is HARDLY slow growth.  Pics. would help.  Did you inoculate with spores?  Also, about 20% colonization is the earliest it's prescribed to safely shake grain mediums (it's about where I shake).

Just give it time brother, this is a hobby that requires patience!
