BRF => spawn to hpoo => case with verm?
    #14754318 - 07/11/11 10:55 PM (13 years, 6 months ago)

My main concern is with the vermiculite casing layer but feel free to critique anything else in this post that I could improve on.

I just inoculated my 12 pf tek 1/2 pt jars 3-4 days ago. As of right now I'm planning on spawning them to a hpoo bulk next to increase the yield (hpoo is easy to find where I live and FREE). I've read a lot of mixed opinions on casing with verm and a lot of the posts I've come accross seem to be talking about casing just crumbled BRF cakes without bulking with hpoo. I thought of using vermiculite first because I have plenty leftover and I figured I might as well use it.

Are there any advantages of casing with vermiculite over not casing at all? Will I get better pin sets with vermiculite and will they be more even? Also, when should I case with verm if at all?

i wouldnt case at all. also a cheese grater makes easy work for breaking up cakes to spawn. just my .02

could mix your verm in with your hpoo when your pasturize.
