Overheated inoculated Jars??
    #14751130 - 07/11/11 12:37 PM (13 years, 6 months ago)

Hey guys I've been inncubating my 12 PF Tek jars in the attic for a few days now. I've been keeping them on the steps leading up to the attic which is convenient because I can move them up or down the steps to change their temp quite easily. However, the attic is much hotter during the day than at night. For the first few days they were around 78-81 degrees but I moved them further up the steps last night because they were getting into the low 70's. I woke up around 2p today and checked them they were at 90 degrees!! I moved them down to the bottom step immediately.

Will this harm them at all? I have yet to see any mycelium growth yet.

They might already be dead. My attic gets SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO hot. I never incubate anything, room temperature works just fine.

na they will be ok. Let me tell you... i had a bunch of cambodian going and they were 100F for like a weekend. they were slow to take off, to be honest i just threw them in the box in the corner and expected them to be dead. 3 weekes later i open it and there was more than half that were 75% cultured. they are resiliant bugger. hope that gives you a little comfort. hope it all turns out. what strain u got going?

Oh awesome then I should be ok. They're a Huautla strain that I ordered from sporeworks. The other syringe I have is nepal/chitwan that I'll be using for the next batch.

What do you mean by completing their life cycle? Do you mean they fully collonized or did they die out? It's been 3 days and still nothing.

You should colonize your jars on a book shelf at normal room temperature.  75F to 80F is perfect.
