WBS preperation issues
    #14753391 - 07/11/11 08:19 PM (13 years, 6 months ago)

Basically I'm starting my first bulk project, using doc's WBS tek to start with. My problem is when I finish simmering the seeds they look fine, only a very very small percentage are opened, but once I pull them out of the pressure cooker the seeds in the bottom of the jar are stuck together, however they separate once I shake them, and a much larger percentage of the seeds are opened I'd say at least 50%. Anyone have problems similar to this? Do you think the nutrients in the seeds would be affected? Should I just go ahead and inoculate?

if the bottom is like a mush then you need to start over.  Doc's tek is hard to get right because the drying step is overlooked

We don't simmer grains. We BOIL grains.

Just bring the grains to a boil after the soak & dump immediately.

Toss every 5-10 minutes for 30-60 minutes, until steam no longer comes off the grain.

After PCing @ 15 PSI (that's Pounds per square Inch), you're naturally going to have semi-compressed grains.

Shake the grains after PCing before inoculation with MS or LC solutions, or after inoculation with agar wedges or G2G.
