    #14737294 - 07/08/11 04:58 PM (13 years, 6 months ago)

I have a bad problem and the sticky tape is not solving the problem only slowing it.

has anyone used this bacteria insecticide?

seems like a decent idea (only one person has posted using this like 5 years ago, but w/ not really any results)

I've heard it works in the greenhouse though it needs repeated application. I bought a carnivorous plant and it cleaned up my grow box pretty nicely.. my gnat problem just came back with a vengeance.

The last time I had the issue I bleached all my perlite And didn't grow for two weeks. Knocked it right out. Gnats start with the soil in your plants so if You go the route of nematodes, They need to be applied on the soil there.

What sort of grow tek do You use?

nematodes require similar applications I thought?  They are also living and only last a few months in sponge-storage.

Maybe insecticide is a more direct route?

I'm not sure about insecticide. The only way to make sure they're gone without hurting yourself is probably to stop growing. Like I said, when i stopped growing mushrooms they gve up. Seems they didn't have anything to eat. I also noticed that they seemed more attracted to cakes that had been through one flush. Not sure why though.

Fungus gnats are breeding in your houseplants.  Find the one(s) that have the gnats and soak the entire pot of soil in water for a day or two, which will drown the larvae.  Until then, don't worry about them.  Fungus gnats/fruit flies don't eat much and rarely cause any harm.  I just ignore them, and I grow commercially.

The BT will work, but needs to be put into the houseplant soil where they're breeding, and once you know which plants are infected, other means of control are just as effective.

A small glass of wine works well for me.  Attracted to the sugars, they fly in, get stuck and drown.

I saw a fungus gnat fly out my SGFC one time and it pissed me off. Gave me haunted memories from growin indoors. How do they get in there? Through the 1/4" holes? Will they lay eggs/larvae in our monotubs? That'd be a bitch.

What if they survived pasteurization and that is how they propagate? :uhoh:
