Spore printing problems

I've taken a total of 5 spore prints. My first 3 went perfectly, resulting in dark prints. But doing the exact same process, my 4th and 5th attempts failed.
Attempts 4 and 5 dropped hardly any spores, they were barely visible so I scrapped them
My most recent attempt went like this: cut the stipe as close to the cap as possible, laid it on tinfoil in my glovebox, put some tinfoil on top to protect. After 2 days the cap hadn't dried out at all (in my successfully tries the cap had totally dried), and virtually no spores
An anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong? As always any help is appreciated

At what point are you picking them? You want to pull them just before they completely flatten out.

Even if signs seem to tell me otherwise.

That the problem right there. I was waiting until they flattened out completely, thanx for the hint. Too bad, those were some beautiful specimens

It can get the inside of your FC a little dirty (with spores) .... but wait until the mature caps are starting to drop spores ... then print. They are already dropping spores.

Yep, sounds like they already dropped their spores. I always make prints BEFORE the caps flatten out completely - not THAT much longer after the veil breaks....a day or so.

Thanx for the tips everybody. I'll be sure to institute them in my next try.
