GLC noob---->point me in the right direction!
    #14737794 - 07/08/11 07:15 PM (13 years, 6 months ago)

i have (3) 1 pound bags of rye berry grains that are about half way colonized, and i've just bought an additional 6 pounds.  i've decided to make an LC since a lot of people have told me that it would be better than trying to do a g2g transfer.  IM USING BAGS, so what's my best option?  i'm a total noob when it comes to LC.  is there a link somebody can provide me with?

GLC are done with a pint jar of grain.

not spawn bags. :S

buy some jars buy a pressure cooker and stop wasting money on pre bagged and sterilized grains?

oh but just spawn each bag to a COIR BUCKET TEK tub.

you will have more than you know what to do with.

You want to use g2g with bags.

Well GLC is fine as an intermediate step, but you'd want to inoculate a jar of grain.
Once that colonizes correctly and completely, use it to inoculate one or more big bags.

How are you going to start the fist bag?
If you won't do agar, use spore solution, just a few drops in a few different places.
Let it get going then massage it around to spread the mycelium.
Bags are a bit of a challenge, it's really not for newbs. (no offense)

none taken...i already have 3 bags that are half way done.  i injected those with spore solution.  i was trying to avoid buying more spores, and wanted to possibly do a g2g transfer into some more bags that are on the  way.

That will work if the bags colonize correctly. Even if just one does, you should be ok.

another suggestion:

just fruit the bags you have going, collect spores and shoot up your remaining bags

Mycelium CAN and HAS been expanded upon (using G2G) from bag to bag for decades.  Be sure to do this in the up most of sterile conditions (inside of a still-air-box, or in front of a flowhood).

My suggestion;  G2G 1-2 of the bags, fruiting the remaining one (or visa-versa), or fruit them all, catching clones from clusters of fruits that have genetic traits you desire.
