You might find versions of these songs you like better. I just sometimes like typing in names of old folk songs with "bluegrass" after them and kicking back.  :smile2:

Just got into these guys.  Awesome!

The Steeldrivers - 'Blue Side of the Mountain'

This guys voice is badass.  He's no longer with the band though.  He reminds me of Warren Haynes from The Allman Brothers

Old Crow Medicine Show
Del Mccoury Band
Iron Horse - their album of Metallica covers is sick
Chatham County Line
Mandolin Orange
Nickel Creek
Punch Brothers - Chris Thile from Nickel Creek and two other guys.  They play super technical stuff that sounds like a bluegrass-classical mesh; it's amazing.
Steve Martin

Did he dream about dragons? Did he dream about deer? Did he whisper  he names of friends who were near?
What songs did they play, and how far away? Why did he whisper, why did she scream?
What does the sound of a screen door mean?
Who talks on the hill? Who goes to the cellar, can you feel the chill? Where does the river, when will the wind?
How far are the mountains? Where do they end? Why would the church?
Did the service begin? Tell me who died, and tell me who cried.
Help me hide in the skin of a deer, my zippered-up bag in the mouth of a stag so swiftly I go through rows of does,
it flows, it flows, it flows, it flows all over the hill where the green grass grows.

The Barefoot Movement. This band is SUPER local, so the quality is shit.  I didn't take the video or anything, but this is at a little festival that happens in my town.  One of my friends used to be roomies with the upright bassist.  They play a little celtic music too.  Love 'em!

Also, I do love me some Old Crowe! Del McCoury and Nickel Creek love those guys too.  The Felice Brothers are all right...they got a little bit of a Zydeco sound, but it's all good.

Doc Watson
Ralph Stanley
or you could just go to Ohio county Kentucky and attend one of the weekly Barn Jams in Rosine, the hometown of Bill Monroe.
Bluegrass is made to be heard live with no amplification.

I saw Punch Brothers open up for Dave Matthews a few months ago.  It was the worst hour or so of my life.   I just can't get into blue grass.  They were very good, just not my cup of beer.

A couple o' my favorites in the genre

Railroad Earth - Been Down This Road

Old Crow Medicine Show - Take 'Em Away

Lester Flatt & Earl Scruggs - Foggy Mountain Breakdown

I'd post other stuff but I'm too lazy.

I will not fear my passions like a coward.
My body I will give to pleasures,
to diversions that I’ve dreamed of,
to the most daring erotic desires,
to the lustful impulses of my blood, without
any fear at all, for whenever I will—
and I will have the will, strengthened
as I’ll be with contemplation and study—
at the crucial moments I’ll recover
my spirit as was before: ascetic.”

Jerry Garciaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa brothah.  However stereotypically hippie-ish it may be.  But yeah if you didn't know Jerry's first instrument was the banjo, and he was in a little bluegrass band called 'old and in the way' in the seventies.  Yay.
