 Straw and Poo Into the Jar

This is probably a dumb question but. . .
I just bought quart jars and realized my pc cant handle that size and fractional sterilization creeps me out. Can i pasteurize poo and straw and then put them in quart jars ands spawn as normal?

Yes, you can, but you risk contamination during the transfer. Just return the jars for smaller ones.

Whats not to understand? I cant sterilize my quart jars. So instead of using whole grains i want to use a Straw/Dung mix so i can pasteurize it instead of having to serilize it. Im sure if i gave it a lot of gas exchange and used plenty of inocculum id be alright? right?

oh, ok. i thought for a minute you wanted to inoculate pasteurised substrate with spores. if you did mean this, then Raadt has taught me something i thought was impossible.

this is what confused me. spawning is using mycelium, inoculating is using spores. in between, you could do it if you germinate the spores first in honey water, maybe.
i'm still a newbie, though. maybe you can do it with spores too.

oh sorry well yes i would like to inoculate using good ole spores. Just to refresh I want to pasteurise straw/dung and place it in quart jars and inoculate with a syringe full of spores.

Yes you can try , but it would take quite a while before germination would occur , and take a lot longer to colonize , thus increasing the chance of contams growing before could clean colony of mycelium .
Is best to isolate a strain on agar , then trasfer some material to jars of "sterilized" grain , then when these fully colonize trasfer them to your straw/dung mix that has been paturized or sterilized which ever you prefer , let fully colonize in dark , case when ready with sterilized or pasturized 50/50 (or whatever you like best) , keep in dark and patch till even mycelium poking thru surface of casing , then begin to induce fruiting by exposing to light , giving lots of fresh air , cold shocking if needed . Keep environmentals in check thru each step .
Or you could also do the old syringe inoculation of your grain , then follow thru with incubation and fruiting procedures .

No you can try to inoculate them with your syringes . It just sounds to me like you are mixing up different teks and not quite understanding the process of one or the other . Pick a method , master it , play with other teks , master them , then you have a full grasp of them make mind up which is best for you , and then maybe try mix matching methods to perfect your own style .

Well i just wish there was an easier way to sterlize jars without a pc or using fractional serilization Id much rather use the 25 pounds of popcorn ive got

What do you mean by "fractional sterilization" ?
The use of smaller jars ?
You could always use autoclavable bags , some of which could easily hold a few pounds of popcorn , and fit into the average pc . Just make sure you wrap in pillow case to keep plastic bag from coming in contact with pc walls .

No you can't put spores in anything that is pastuerized.
You can however sterilzie the poo/hay and inject osme psores into that, that would work.

Why not ? Some people believe pasturized is better than sterilized .
Honestly I preffer the sterilizing over pasturizing , but that is personal prefference .
It is risky no matter what due to time it will take to colonize and dung is likely to contaminate before myc colony gets strong hold .
