I think wet shrooms taste better than dry shrooms. They taste more like you would think a fresh mushroom would taste like if you just picked it out of the ground. Dry ones taste like you would think a piece of poop would taste like after you dipped it in more poop.
I would recommend blending it with a strong liquid and make a drink that you can just down real quick.
But everyone has their opinions!

People can give bad advise on this site u guys are right about that. Look, tape up all but 2 or 3 of those big ass holes in ur fc and put it buy a sunny window for 1 or 2 hours and watch that gauge go way up and ull see that all those holes kill the humidity. Dont worry about fae cause u can still take off the lid and fan it 2 to 3 times a day. Sometimes u just need to see for ur self man, and 100 people telling u what to do is no substitute for a little experiance. So take 2 hours out of ur day tommorow and ull see whats what. Not trying to piss anybody off I just know cause Ive used that same jug several times in the past. Just try it man for real.

No. The gauge goes all the way up because condensation forms on the sensor. You can tell when you remove it from the FC and it doesn't go down for an hour or more. Point being...the SGFC works fine as it is. FAE is just as / more important than RH. On top of that, we've already established the hygrometer reading is wrong, why the hell are you trying to fix a nonexistant problem? Did you miss this?

Unfortunately, your knowledge of physics matches your spelling and grammar skills. Taping holes in a properly made shotgun terrarium reduces humidity and fresh air, both of which are very important.
Telling someone that fanning 2 to 3 times a day will in any way match the performance of constant fresh air leads one to wonder if you've actually grown your first mushroom yet. One would have to fan 2 to 3 times per hour to achieve the natural air exchange that a shotgun terrarium delivers.
The OP's problem is a bad hygrometer, probably a made in china piece of shit from walmart. No amount of 'fixing' the terrarium is going to satisfy a defective hygrometer. That is like changing the oil on your car because it has a flat tire. RR

how does taping holes reduce humidity? Do u know anything about physics cause a retard can grow mushrooms. And who gives a fuck about my grammer cant u find anything better to pick on? Like maybe my technique or opionions? Maybe if i stayed in school Id have mad grammer and no knoweldge of mushrooms. U might as well ban me cause Im sick of all the know it alls on this site who did it a few times and read a few threads so they think their a professor or somthing. Seriously if u wanna try to make fun of me cause of spelling or grammer then FUCK YOU RR. I thought u were more mature than most of these fools on this site man. U cant just say Im wrong like all the other threads I post on? So go ahead and ban me.

Do you know what causes high humidity? Its evaporation of moisture from heat or air,how do you expect to get evaporation by closing up holes

I dont know man all Ive noticed is that the holes are important but not too many or too big, Im trying to speak on the same fc this guy is using cause ive used it before and I only put holes in the lid and not as big as his. And when I open the lid its like a steam chamber and the mushrooms get huge. U can really feel the humidity when u open the thing up and who cares about his rh gauge, its not so hard.

It wouldnt bother me if it was just some ingnorant fool but everyone looks up to this guy and what he says goes so if he says fuck me then everyone else will to, so its kinda offending.

I don't mean to nit pick but I believe he has actually lectured on Mycology. And this is how you spell grammar. I'm really sorry man and hope you don't get mad at me, but I just don't think you know what you're talking about.
Anyway on to a more positive issue... Why not think about going back to school? Do you live in the U.S.? We'll pay for G.E.D if you do. How old are you? You don't just want to grow mushrooms do you? If you're over 25 you should look into a Pell Grant.
here: http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/
If you live in the states and are over 25 check that link out, they'll pay for your school and some boarding as long as you don't make over a certain amount of money!! That's what I did. And of course there's always student loans too.
Get back to me on PMs if you're really interested and I'll give you the skinny. But seriously man, RR is a very respected guy because he knows his shit.

Haha if I'm not mistaken didn't RR have something to do with the invention of the SGFC? I could be wrong.
Astronaut you said a retard can grow mushrooms, but there's questions the op has about it, so quit with the flaming other people. Rather than getting banned, why not bow out gracefully and call it quits. You've not only deferred this topic to OTD stuff, but you're attacking and flaming people whore trying to help. Way to let your true, educated, respectable colors fly buddy! You wonder why people who've been here a long time give people grief over questions that have 100's of teks and 1000's of posts about! If you want to be taken seriously at a job interview you would wear a shit that says "Fuck Whitey" on it to your interview (unless it was a NoI or BP deal). Spelling and grammar may not be a huge part of this, but type like you speak (which I can only assume sounds like you've got something in your mouth and only half the letters are enunciated) doesn't make your arguments hold any water. There's a check spelling button for goodness sake man (or woman) USE IT!!!
You've gone way far buddy, and for your sake and for your educational growth, banning isn't what you need, a little drive and acceptance of being wrong is a great place to start. If you learn to admit fault, weakness, failure, and other negative things in life, you'll learn where you can start developing a better you, and maybe not give up.
Back to why tape lowers humidity. Airflow going into the sgfc prevents you from having to heatthe water to roughly 86* (give or take) which is where water starts to evaporate. We know that growing mushrooms at 86* isn't as good as say 76*. Also when you have a sealed container you're not getting any air echange, nor are you getting adequate evaporation, which helps trigger the primordial formations. Hell if it worked that well, I'd just transfer pf cakes to larger jars or trashbags amd call it good. 1/4" holes every 2" apart, 5" pf perlite, shit 8" of perlite if you're that worried, misting and fanning and you're golden! RR grows for a living, and although he's a bulk organic farm and probably doesn't use the SGFC any more he's used it and I bet so have 90% of the "retards" here.
-------------------- I challenge you to challenge yourself more! When you feel complacent and ready to hang it up, challenge yourself to get over it! If you fail, don't look at it as you didn't succeed, look at it as you would a rock face you're trying to climb. Stand back, wayyyy back, and look at it and plot another path. If you can't find one, shuffle down the way a little, a little change of scenery or a view from a different angle may give you the insight you need.
Anything I state is relayed information from a friend of a friend and should be viewed as completely fictitious. I do not partake in any illegal or grey-area-of-the-law activities, but do have lots of friends who may or may not. -fngbronco

I cover the holes on my box with 3M Tegaderm (Teg). Keeps in the humidity, lets the exchange of O2 & CO2 happen AND most important - it keeps out the nasty stuff. When cakes start to fruit, I just peel off the Teg on top to adjust the humidity. I also use the Teg post inoculation to keep the moisture in the jars and the nasty stuff out.

I only read the OP and RR's post so forgive me if I repeat answers. In the past I had some serious humidity problems with sgfcs because the holes on the bottom were covered, you need to make sure the terrarium is elevated so that air can rush in through the bottom. This air will flow through the perlite catching water off the rocks surface as it goes through. This should provide adequate RH levels for optimal shroom growth.
Like RR said make sure you have a good hygrometer, I bought a reptile thermometer/hygrometer at a pet store a while back and it has worked marvelously for me; guess I got lucky . Another idea is boris's $5 hygrometer
