Loss of potency and multiple generations of prints

I can't seem to find the info I'm looking for via the search engine. If someone could point me to a thread covering this question I'd appreciate it, and mods please delete/lock this redundant one.
We've been making spore prints>syringes using generation after generation of fruits (grown on BRF PF style) that started from a single multi spore purchased commercially about 3 years ago.
Without changing any of the growing parameters I've began to notice a significant decline in the potency. Am I muddling correlation with causation to believe that it's because they are ancestors of the same multi-spore syringe?
Recently I grew some amazon from a new commercially purchased multi-spore syringe using grain spawn, a coir substrate, peat moss casing and those things kicked my ass alot harder than the B+ do now, but not so long ago they were definitely comparable.

spores are genetic baseline.
every print you take has spores with the potential to fruit potent mushrooms
and spores with the potential to make not so potent mushrooms.

Yep.. Multispore means it is random genetics each time. The only time you get senescence is with isolates I'm pretty sure.

One can easily begin to select for potency by labeling prints and the cap they were made from. You should be able to notice slight differences based on eating one cap, if you do them at least a week or two apart. Find the best caps, then go to the appropriate print which that cap produced and grow it out. Repeat.
This isn't as quick as isolating strains on agar, but for those who haven't developed the appropriate skills yet, it's a start. RR

Hmph. That's kinda what I figured. It's a crap shoot of sorts. I always printed the big ones, and I started thinking that maybe I printed from a weak fruit. Please pardon my ignorance, but are you saying that even if I'd printed from a fruit that was not very potent that wouldn't mean that fruits eventualy grown from those spores would necessarily be lacking in psychoactives?
Thanks for the responce BTW!
