Urgent help needed...low RH!!!

I just introduced these trays to a new fruiting chamber I built tonight. It's hooked up to an ultrasonic cool mist humidifier. I can't seem to get my RH over the low 70's. This is my first attempt at a bulk grow. I am totally wet behind the ears and I would greatly appreciate any advice. Perhaps I have too many holes? Maybe the polyfill is too loosely packed? I'm at a loss and a little worried.

Oh theres no doubt about that. I plan on going to a smoke shop tomorrow and getting the real deal, but at the same time I can't see any condensation build up. You don't think I went overboard with the polyfill and holes?

I agree with koolaid. I thought I had the same problem & found out it was my hydrometer. Just keep an eye out & if it seems to dry then turn your kool mist on more often. You could wrap you meter in a wet wash cloth and after an hour see if it reads 100%. What ever it reads after an hour that is how much it is off. Then just add whatever it was off to the reading. Good Luck

I did exactly that...wrapped the sensor in a wet washcloth while the RH read 60%. After a half hour thing didn't budge so I unwrapped it and threw it across the room. POS!

Honestly I think it's because you're not using a fluorescent light. The type of light bulb you're using now doesn't produce the right wavelengths for mushrooms - and produces a lot of heat which could be robbing you of your RH.
But don't take my word for it I'm still learning too.
Check out mine:
71.9F 97-99% RH, only misting and fanning.

No I didn't mean to come off like that...in fact I'm looking into getting a fluorescent as soon as the funds allow.

Your humidity is fine, if not too much. We get at least three of these threads per week and it's all because of buying piece of shit made in china crap at walmart or similar. Those things aren't worth the rock you're going to use to smash it to bits. RR

Please note: condensation and the percentage of relative humidity are very thinly threaded in their relation. For our purposes as mycologists, the simplified answer would be "they are not related"....
Meaning: you can have 99% humidity and no condensation. Likewise; you can have a RH% extremely low and lots of condensation... Most of us know that humidity is the relation of ambient moisture in the surround air... Condensation occurs when there is a convergence of colliding temperatures...
An example: If I go to the middle of the desert with a RH of say 10% and pour myself a tall glass of ice cold beer, I will obtain condensation (sweating) on the outside of the glass... As the hot air collides with the ice cold glass of beer, the sudden drop in temperature pulls the moisture from the air...
That's the dumb simple explanation... But, I'm a dumb simple guy
