My first bulk grow....here's the plan.

Ok...so after a successful PF cake tek grow, i've decide to move up to bigger and better (and easier it seems) things. i've inoculate (3) 1 pound bags of rye berry substrate with Cube. (ecuador) spores.
they're about 30-40% colonized. i just 'shook' them yesterday. hopefully, in another week i'll be fully colonized. i've also got (3) 5 pound bags of pasteurized straw.
when i'm ready to spawn to bulk, i'm torn on what i should do next. i'm thinking of trying the straw log tek or laundry basket tek (although i don't think i have enough for that). then again, should i try something else. i'm looking for the biggest yeilds, and i'm not sure if that is contingent on which tek i use. is the easiest thing to just let them fruit in the bag?

Now Im confused, straw logs work for cubes? Iv always just done the 50/50 coir tek so Im curious. I know straw/poo will work but I didnt know straw alone was suitable
I hope to do some bags in the future, Ill probably inoculate each one with a quart jar of rye spawn so it hits the ground running.
All I can offer you is this link to a post I wrote up on monotubs which should at the very least give you some helpful links to others teks

Id think a monotub would be better. You gotta build a greenhouse for a straw log. Least thats what Ive been lead to believe. Ive seen pics of logs before and they can work quite well

thanks for the link! as far as straw only...i watched an RR video (youtube) on strawlog/laundry basket teks, and at the end it showed a log with cubes. so i'm assuming, it's at least possible. whether or not it's the very best option, i don't know.

I have the full RR video and it shows a straw log with cubes that was producing very well. Id still go with the monotub tho

with the monotub, is it true that the thicker you're casing layer = more mushrooms per square foot? i'm assuming you don't want it too thick, but what would yall suggest?

Dont think so, they had a post a while back concerning just such a matter. Cant seem to find it but the end result was that cubes produced just as much without a casing layer as they did with one. Keep in mind that this is only cubes, some other species require a casing layer. I never use a casing layer, would just be more work
I believe Iv heard RR mention that logs take a long time to fruit but continue to fruit long term, check me on that because Im not absolute but I would be willing to wager that monotubs produce more faster. Glad to know you can grow cubes with such methods, always learning something new.

Ive read your casing layer should never be deeper than 1 inch, or 1/4th your substrate depth. Whichever is shallower
